AVOID AT ALL COSTS! After requesting and recieving copies of my dogs medical history today I am so glad I made the decision to move the dogs to a different vet 6 months ago! Market Cross had always been brilliant with my two dogs up until around a year and a half ago. Staff changes happened suddenly and no one was ever as friendly as the previous staff. Appointments felt rushed and I felt the vets and vet nurses didn't take the time to put my two dogs at ease. An example of this was with a vet who was quite rough with my oldest dog who finds the vet a very stressful experience. The vet dove straight in to examining my dog, touching hin and handling him without much care. Every other vet we saw allowed my dog to sniff them and gave him some cuddles to make them feel comfortable before examining them. My dog got extremely stressed and anxious and all the vet could say was "oh, hes quite aggressive" and then proceeded to stop examining him. I was then asked to do all the checks on my dog myself under his guidance - madness! I'm not qualified and don't know what I'm looking for! He then weighed my dog and got his weight wrong by 3kg when typing it into the notes and said "oh I can't remember exactly but he was around this weight". My dog was 10kg and it was recorded as 13kg. Both me and my partner were present and we both agreed his treatment of our dog was not up to standard. Upon recieving my dogs records today I am extremely angry at what the receptionist has recorded about me on records. Over a year ago I booked them in for a 6 monthly check up and was given an appointment time of 1pm. This was confirmed to me in an email but was written as "1:00". I got a call just after 10am that day asking where I was. I said my appointment was at 1pm and the receptionists was extremely rude on the call, saying I was in the wrong. On my dogs records she has recorded "The client was argumentative and shouting on phone call". I was not shouting and was not argumentative. I was simply stating that you had booked my appointment in wrong. Market Cross used to be brilliant but since being bought over have been absolutely appalling. Please go to a different vet if you want quality care and your beloved pets to be looked after properly.

Our wee Misty wasn’t feeling well and we took her to the vet Lisa was so friendly and made the last moments on Mistys life comfortable for her. Very nice staff and caring even in the most upsetting situation. Thank you for looking after Misty the last 15 years. Best regards.

I've been a customer of Market Cross for 10 years. In that time, I've never had any issues. The reception staff have always been great, giving me appropriate appointments. The veterinary staff have been great. They are always kind and gentle with my cat (Toby, who is very nervous at the vet) and dog (Harris). Also, being a part of the healthy pet club and pet plan makes life so much easier when it comes to boosters and treatment etc. I'd give more stars than 5 if I could.

Have been registered with Market Cross for 12 years, and up until recently couldn't rate them highly enough, a small family run practice with staff who had a genuine care for your pets. However in the last year or two the service provided has been less than satisfactory, it would appear there have been lots of changes with staffing, but certainly not for the better. Today was the final straw when I was charged nearly £53 for a 2 minute phone call. Goes without saying I will be looking to move my pets elsewhere.

My dog has a ear condition that my previous vet at straighton gave me spray to help clear up but after several years and much discomfort to Max it never did , I changed vet to Market Cross and was given a oil that had the condition cured in 4 days !!!! As a new customer they are very friendly and welcoming. So from Max and myself... THANK YOU VERY MUCH
