After our dog passed away, we received automated emails from the surgery reminding us to bring her in for a six-monthly health check. I contacted them about this and chose to look past the mistake. However, when we went to collect her ashes, the receptionist decided that was the appropriate moment to tell my partner that we supposedly owed a couple of hundred pounds. We do not, everything had already been paid in full / through insurance. They couldn’t tell my partner exactly what the bill was for when he asked either. Even if there had been an outstanding balance, raising it while we were collecting our dog’s ashes was deeply insensitive and completely inappropriate. This experience lacked basic compassion, and the staff would benefit from additional training around empathy and timing.

I’m incredibly disappointed with the care my dog received at Tawe Vets. Luna had been unwell for weeks — clear signs of infection, pain, and discomfort. Despite repeated visits, I had to push just to get basic treatment like antibiotics and pain relief. She had multiple tests, including bloods, yet I was never contacted with results — even after calling at 9am to report she was getting worse. No one followed up. No urgency. I’ve now taken Luna to a different vet who listened, took her pain seriously, and are actually supporting us through the next steps — whatever they may I would not recommend this practice to anyone needing genuine, compassionate care when their pet is truly in need Update on Luna After moving Luna to a new vet, I’m relieved to say she’s finally on the road to recovery. The change in care has been nothing short of incredible—within 24 hours she was more comfortable, her pain was being managed, and for the first time in weeks, I felt like she was truly being cared for. In contrast, Tawe Vets didn’t just fail Luna medically—they failed her emotionally. Her pain was dismissed, test results were delayed, and no urgency was ever shown, even when she was clearly deteriorating. Their response to my review only confirmed what I already knew: they care about your pet about as much as they care about replying to reviews—robotically, without empathy or accountability. Frankly, they should put “butchers” above the door, not vets. The lack of compassion, urgency, or basic duty of care was inexcusable

You looked after my dog Arry with love and care for the years he was with you. Unfortunately, Arry had to be put down February this year, 2025. He was 12.5 years old. I've never had any trouble with an appointment. If they were a bit late, it ws due to a sick animal needing that extra time. Thank you, one and all from Arry Minchella.

A nervous day. My dog Henry went in for his castration operation. I was of course, told by everyone how it was 'an easy operation ' and 'nothing to worry about'. Which is true, but what isn't easy is when it's your dog going under the knife. Turns out I had nothing to be nervous about. Henry was greeted warmly and didn't have to wait too long before going in for the pre-opp exam. I was given plenty of time to understand everything that was going to happen and an opportunity to ask questions. Everything went very well for him and I was able to pick him up that afternoon. He was recovered and given something to eat while in their care. He was sized for his onesie and brought out to me walking, well and eager to go home. All the staff were very friendly and kind to myself and most importantly, to Henry. I wouldn't hesitate to return if he needed anything done in the future.

Once gave this place a 4* but three terrible and frustrating visits have forced me to drop it. Again today appointment booked early so less interference with other appointments. Arrived at 8.30 for 8 45 appointment. Had to wait until 9.15 after calling and checking they didn't forget me. Finally went in for 2.30minute weigh and inject. They tried getting me to have more tests again although he's had the same ones for 4 months now with same results and each time they say its not needed next time they still try and take my money for them. I know they ha e a duty of care but it's completely mixed messages consistently. I book an appointment I should be seen to within 15 minutes if this time (or atleast checked on or assurance of queue time. Its a paid service and we are trusting them. Last time I was there 2 5 hours! The bloods machine broke 3 times and they were just going to inject my dog without testing anyway as that was convenient for them. They said because of this hassle they wouldn't charge for testing even when eventually sorting it. I got charged for testing anyway!!! Mixed messages again. I review regularly. I will keep going as they have my dogs medical history and hope the service gets better. If it does I will update my review.
