  Vet was great and provided excellent care but I bemoan the loss of our independent vets, across the country. The whole system is now under three main vet conglomerates which are buying up the last independents - very sad for everyone.

  I would strongly advise pet owners to think twice before trusting this practice with anything that requires timely follow-up. I took my indoor cat to Medivet Lewisham on 15 July for unilateral earwax build-up. An ear swab was taken for culture, and I was told to wait for their call once the results were back. After hearing nothing, I called the practice myself on 23 July. I was informed that the culture results had been available since Monday, but no vet had reviewed them and nobody had contacted me. The explanation was that the vet who saw my cat was out of the country. That is simply not an acceptable excuse. At the appointment, I was specifically told that several vets work at the practice and rotate, so continuity of care should never depend on a single individual. This points to a serious failure of clinical handover and internal processes. The most concerning part is that if I had not called, my cat’s results would apparently have continued to sit there unnoticed. Timely review of microbiology results is a basic standard of veterinary care, especially when investigating an infection that may require antimicrobial treatment. Failing to review results for days until the owner chases them is not a minor administrative oversight—it is a patient safety issue. I paid around £300 for this consultation and investigation. My indoor cat went through the considerable stress of travelling and being examined, only for the most important part of the diagnostic process to be neglected. That makes the entire visit feel like a complete waste of time, money and unnecessary distress for my pet. This experience has seriously undermined my confidence in the practice. Owners should not have to chase laboratory results or worry that important findings will simply be forgotten because a particular vet is away.

  I had a deeply upsetting experience at Medivet Lewisham today. My dog was suffering from acute gastric distress and was understandably tender. The vet made zero effort to settle him or build rapport before beginning a very aggressive physical exam. Despite my dog showing clear signs of pain, the vet continued to push, resulting in my dog screaming in a way I have never heard before. This rough handling triggered a fear-evacuation (pooping all over me) and forced my dog to defend himself by howling and baring his teeth—something he has not done before. It was a traumatizing experience for both of us and a complete waste of time. I took him to another vet immediately after who was gentle, compassionate, and able to treat him without any distress. I am sorry to say that I would not trust this clinic with a sensitive or pained animal.

  My cat has an ongoing thyroid problem which is being looked after by the vets here. They are fabulous with him & altho he is 16 he is back to his old self. The staff are great & very helpful always. There are new vet/partners here and they are first class & v professional . I have been coming here for 20 years including with previous animals & feel their service is excellent

  Their reception staff and vet are super friendly and helpful. He was shaking so much when I took him out to vet for the first time, and they made him feel very comfortable and safe, in the end he fallen asleep on the vet table 😂 Vaccine 💉 was like nothing happened, he didn’t cry at all. The monthly plan can be a good choice if you decide to get all the vaccines and worming treatments done with them.
