Hawthorn Veterinary Surgeries is an independent, family-run small animal practice with three branches located in West Sussex. They provide expert veterinary care with modern facilities for pets, offering general veterinary services. The main surgery is in Henfield, with additional branches in Partridge Green and Hassocks. Founded in 2012 by Jonathan and Annelise Underwood, the practice focuses on delivering high-quality veterinary care using the latest equipment. They continually upgrade their facilities and invest in ongoing staff training. Their Henfield practice relocated to a purpose-designed facility in 2019, and a third branch in Hassocks opened in 2025. Hawthorn Veterinary Surgeries offers various services including a mobile vet service for home visits and client pet insurance with Pet Proactive. They also provide practice health plans, including a Platinum plan with unlimited veterinary appointments. The team includes Fear Free Certified Practitioners, ensuring a positive experience for pets during their visits.

Hawthorn Veterinary Surgeries is based at The Old Bakehouse, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 8HU in Sussex. The practice treats birds, cats, dogs, exotic/wild, poultry and small mammals. It is open at weekends, offers on-site parking and provides step-free access.

  Thank you for the amazing care you give to our dog Ted and have done since he was a puppy 8 years ago, most recently when he had an operation to remove multiple teeth. We were kept informed throughout the procedure, with a phone call mid operation to inform us of what was happening and what had to be done. The after care was excellent, leaving the surgery we had a feeding and exercise plan as well as medication - the following day I had a lengthy conversation with Adam, the veterinary surgeon who had worked on Ted - he explained everything that they had done to Ted and why, reassuring us of Teds recovery and what to expect, he was patient and thorough. Ted has since had a follow up visit at the surgery with a nurse and he is doing brilliantly. We are very grateful and we know Ted is too! He may not have as many teeth but he is 100% much happier and much more comfortable.

  I have used Hawthorn vets for over 30 years and the service I have received never disappoints. They are friendly from the minute you enter the building, everyone you see has a warm smile and a welcoming manner. They are wonderful with the animals in their car and offer all the latest treatments. I really can’t recommend them enough.

  We’ve only just moved to Hawthorn Vets after being elsewhere, and they are an absolute breath of fresh air. Friendly, approachable, understanding and professional. Everything you could hope for in a veterinary practice. The staff all look genuinely happy to be there and as though they really enjoy the environment they work in, which makes such a difference. Their payment plan also includes far more than other vets we’ve attended, so it works out as excellent value for money. My only regret is that we didn’t move to Hawthorns sooner!

  Excellent veterinary care and great communication efficiency from the administration staff. Just one example of that ... At my last appointment for a routine monthly injection, Rebecca (nurse) noticed that Daisy (my dog) was due for her bi-annual boosters in a couple of weeks. Rebecca kindly suggested that, (to save us another journey) she could safely add the boosters to this visit. Such 'consideration' is rare and deserves recognition. Thank you Rebecca.
