As they don't do female spay keyhole surgery in Newbury, we chose to contact Abingdon branch. We were phone-quoted £546 on 29th Dec 2025 for a keyhole ovaryoscopy for our dog. This was confirmed again at a later date, again by phone when we had a few questions. Today, 27th Jan 2026, after being pleased with the pre-care and successful surgery, we were very disappointed to be told that the price was actually £618 for the surgery, and that we had actually been quoted the wrong price for a male castration (twice). Because we had signed the pre-op form with the correct price on, we had no recourse. A manager was called at the Didcot branch and they confirmed that we would have to pay that full price. The vet at Abingdon said that they wouldn't hold our dog for ransom but we may be threatened with dept collectors if we didn't pay the whole bill. At this point we asked to speak to the manager at Didcot, before leaving the vets, but faced the same brick wall. We had signed the pre-op sheet which had the escallated price on ... therefore we agreed to the terms. This price hadn't been expressly pointed out at the time of signing, just circled. An easy assumption to make that it was the same price that had originally been quoted. Absolutely disgusted with Vets4pets Abingdon. We came out feeling at best wronged and at worst scammed and treated as if we were trying to get away without paying what we should..... Just wanted to warn all other pet owners, make sure you get email quotations for any treatments, and even if you do, check on the pre-op forms that the price is what they said it would be!!

My dog was spad and Dan carried out the procedure. He was so informative and it was lovely to see him for her post op check for continuity. I haven’t needed to use Vets4Peta often thankfully, however they are very responsive when I need to order her worming/flea treatment. Would highly recommend

The vet we saw when Rosie was very sick was very clear about her situation. The decision was was made that she was too old and sick to have any work done the vet was more then reassuring and understanding that we also had financial issues and put Rosie to sleep in a way that didn’t alarm an already alarmed animal and family. They cared for our beloved dog and not for the money unlike another vets in Abingdon who would rather leave an animal to suffer. Kudos to the vet in which I was in no condition to take her name. Thank you for caring for us and our Rosie in our time of need. Thanks so much Emma Smith (vet) for being so kind professional and supportive when we needed you the most.

If Carlsberg made vets… The whole team at Vets for Pets were fabulous. The help, support and guidance during our pets recent visit was magnificent. How they reacted to something that on the face of it was simple, but turned into an emergency was incredible. Ultimately this made the difference in us being able to bring our dog home. Special mention to the Vet, Dan, who’s knowledge, skill set and overall great character sets him out above other vets we have dealt with. His clear and direct advice made the after care simple. Thanks again for everything.

The vets here are so wonderful and have done so much for us. Our poor cat Barry was attacked and ended up having to have his eye removed as an emergency surgery. The vet Lucy talked us through everything beforehand and was honest with us about the costs and how Barry would be feeling and everything that would be done. She saved his life and now he's as happy ever. We can't thank Vets4Pets enough for what they've done. I will always recommend them, they're such a wonderful practice.
