our dog was put on a lot of medication, apparently for arthritis, seizures, a bladder condition and pain. For several years we paid for examinations every 3 month, which were necessary to get the prescriptions. We also had to pay for 4 different written prescriptions and then obviously for the medication, which we bought from an online pharmacist. Due to a councidence, Medivet Portland was closed when our dog needed attention, we saw a different vet. He said our dog never had seizures, we could stop the medication. We trusted him and slowly reduced and stopped the seizure medication over several months. We also stopped the painkiller and the medication for arthritis. Surprisingly our dog was more lively and energetic than before. Finally we stopped the bladder medication, we were told she needed to take for the rest of her life, otherwise she woukd ne incontinent. She is absolutely fine. We left Medivet Portland now. Our impression was, it is all about the money, not about the animals and definitely not about the humans.

The vets and staff at this practice are brilliant. From Theo & Sian who were fantastic when we had to have our elderly cat PTS, to Tine who has been fab with our adventurous Bengal who had to have a toe removed, and who continues to support our other very nervous cat. They are all really lovely and supportive, but also down to earth, honest and straight forward, particularly with diagnosis and recommendation of treatment and the associated costs. I would highly recommend them.

Our first visit to Medivet Portland, having been with a brllliant Vet practice in Dorchester for 20 years, We were forced to move as our boy doesn't travel well and we now live on Portland...he is vehicle reactive! Although the receptionist could have been a little friendlier, she was polite. The vet was lovely, she greeted our boy with a treat and he fell in love! She did a dental check and gave us a comprehensive opinion on when he may need treatment. We were impressed especially as we found out this was a complimentary check. My concerns at the change of vet have now diminished.

I just want to say a massive thank you to Tina and the team for being so supportive! Six months ago I had to say goodbye to my BobBob and today I had to say goodbye to my Bear. It was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do! They mean made it a lot easier for me. You are all amazing and incredible. Thank you all
