  This isn’t our usual vet but we took our staffy here for her spay as our vet doesn’t offer keyhole surgery. From the very first phone call with the booking team, I felt totally at ease. Rebecca was so kind, patient and helpful with getting us booked in. All of the staff in the surgery itself were lovely. Throughout the whole process, from the consultation to the surgery to the post-op check-up, we felt totally reassured and included. Our dog is usually very anxious in the vets but we had absolute confidence in the team to take care of her. And whatever they did worked magic because she went skipping back in when it was time for her post-op check up! Thank you so much to the whole team for making it such a stress-free experience for both us and our wee pup. We couldn’t recommend you highly enough and are so pleased that we decided to go with you.

  I got a 7 month old rescue dog who didn’t pee when I took her out. I went to the Roundhouse vet who examined her thoroughly and told me her bladder was full and she would need an operation to empty her bladder and it was at dangerous levels and it would require an anaesthetic and an overnight stay. It would cost £2500. I decided to go and have a think about it. I then decided to get a second opinion. I went to my old vet and they also examined her. They said her bladder was fine and that she was definitely peeing somewhere and that I should go back and check my house. I did and discovered she had been peeing in a back room on some rugs. What’s that all about Roundhouse vets??? Dodged a bullet there I think.

  While I have always found the staff to be lovely, we have been disappointed with our recent experiences over the last few months in how our cat has been treated. Our male cat blocked and required in and out catheterisation to drain his bladder. Grit was found but was quickly dismissed when his test results came back as clear. As such it was put down to stress. Less than three months later he reblocked again, his bladder was partially full but he was unable to pass urine when the vet tried to express it. He was given pain relief and medication to take home, by 4am he still hadn’t peed so we called VetsNow as it wasn’t made clear to us how long we should wait until the medication kicked in and we were worried his condition would develop into an emergency. As your out of hours service I would have expected them to have access to his notes but this did not seem to be the case. As such, he went through the procedure again without any background context aside from what we could remember. Like your team, they found grit when trying to unblock him but did not investigate any further. As the root cause of the issue was not identified, he reblocked for a third time but was in a significantly worse condition as he’d just been through stressful surgery. We made the decision to move him to Rouken Glen vets and we are so glad that we did - he was flushed out multiple times until the vet could find the crystals causing the grit. He was kept in over night and observed until he was peeing multiple times. It turns out he had urate crystals which would not show up in the standard tests but as grit was present, the vet at Rouken Glen refused to empty his bladder and send him home until this cause of it was identified as he would just continue to reblock. Had Roundhouse properly looked into the cause of the grit they found in the first place then our cat wouldn’t have reblocked twice (something which has been extremely traumatic for him), he would be on the correct aftercare and diet which would manage his condition and we’d be nearly £3.5k better off. For comparison on costs, Roundhouse charged £1.2k for the initial unblocking treatment, VetsNow charged £2.7k and Rouken Glen who kept him in for two full days, undertook an unblocking, numerous flushes and identified the root cause, charged £625. The quality of aftercare is also significantly better at Rouken Glen than at both Roundhouse and VetsNow with our cat receiving injectables which will last him weeks vs the need for multiple pills and liquid medication to be administered throughout the day for weeks. The vet at RG also took the time to walk us through everything in detail and made us feel reassured that he was finally in the right hands.

  Seemed like a decently nice vet at the beginning but after experiences alongside preexisting reviews from other people, this place will bleed you dry or be incredibly dishonest. I took my cat in for a neutering at 7 months and a few hours after the surgery had taken place I called and asked for an update on her status. They claimed she was fine, no issues at all, and she was ready to be picked up in 30 minutes. Once I picked her up I saw that there was an additional £70-£80 bill on top of the £100 deposit and £109 final payment; this was for eye ulcer medication which nobody informed me about until 20 minutes after I had came in and checked with reception. The part I disagree with is the vet telling me this was a very common risk of neutering under anaesthesia for cats, which I then later found from other vets and online forums is not true and eye ulcers are much rarer side effects, often resulting from careless inattentiveness from the vets when they meant to be lubricating the cat’s eyes during surgery. Ridiculous prices for the surgery which you can’t really even seem to find online anywhere, and the medication being brought up on a whim for x3 the price you can get it for elsewhere is a joke. Granted, there are some nice friendly staff but don’t let that fool you.
