Our beautiful cat Zander got hit by a car and tragically died pretty much immediately. The kindest of people who saw it took him to Moor Cottage as she herself had been through similar sad events. Zander was microchipped so Kim at Moor Cottage called my wife with the awful news. My wife said that Kim was so sympathetic and tried to help my wife with the upset of it all. I called Kim straight after I'd heard from my wife so as to arrange collection etc. What then happened is why I wish we could give higher star ratings. Kim told me the options for collection so as we could bury our cat as well as Cremation options. None of these were a sales line. All were offers as options for us to decide on. I called later to say we would collect Zander as it felt best for us I went mid afternoon and was welcomed by lovely reception staff who when I told them what I was there for took me through away from Reception into a waiting room so I wasn't around other people Kim and another member of staff came in with Zander wrapped in towel but also in a cat carrier. Kim stayed and chatted and was a massive support and help and offers ed her own experiences of loss and was just wonderful. I said I'd bring carrier back following day but she said that if I found it difficult to "not worry about it". An hour before I'd gone there I'd got a call from Kim to ask if we would like some fur clippings and paw prints of Zander. I obviously said yes. We got our boy back as well as an envelope with 4 little glass bottles with fur in them (he was really distinctive in colour) as well as 4 paw prints on card. Now please imagine, in this world right now, what would you expect to pay for the fact they'd taken our beautiful cat in, kept him for the day, gave him to us in a dignified and practical way plus gave us mementos that we can keep? Absolutely no charge. Because they know pets are loved and they do not profiteer off our grief. It's the most refreshing experience I've had of service for many a year and I can only thank them again for being so wonderful and kind when we needed it most. We will of course use the practice for pets needs going forward but know that it wasn't 'touting for business ' that they did what they did for us. Simply, thank you. ❤️
Read on Google →We have always had an excellent and speedy service from our veterinary practitioner at Moor Cottage. We have taken various guinea pigs and 2 dogs there over the previous 15 years. We recently had to visit again for a skin condition treatment for our dog. I was apprehensive about the bill but it was actually less than I had expected! I felt reassured and had no regrets about taking my dog in as she was given a through check over at the same time. Great service 👍🏻
Read on Google →I hate to think how many poor animals have been put to sleep because of the way this vet word things and their practices. I have taken my time writing this review to allow the anger I had for the vets to subside and this be a publicly readable review. During a charity hike my wife and I were on, our cat fell ill at the professional cattery he was staying at due to complications with his diabetes. The cattery got the first emergency appointment they could from Moor Cottage and rushed our boy in. At this point we were stranded in Africa with no way of getting back to the UK so as you could imagine, worry was setting in and we were blaming ourselves for doing the hike. Due to communication issues, (only available over the internet), we had to liase with our cattery staff and the vets through the cattery staff phones because the practice doesn't have a practice mobile with whats app on. The vets used works like 'Catastrophic' to describe the issues our poor boy was facing. They estimated that it would cost £800-£1500 a day to keep him alive and we should be prepared to 'make a decision' on keeping him alive. We agreed to keep him on meds for 24 hours to see if his condition improved and we planned to make contact again the following day. Then, the cattery staff were informed that he would need to be moved to a vets in Reading as Moor Cottage do not provide services overnight. We found a way to move him to Reading that evening, just to then be told we would need to bring him back to Moor Cottage the following day. In fact, he would need to be transferred to and from the Reading vets every day because the Reading vets only operated in that location overnight and a different vets used the facility during the day for normal services. So, our cat is sick, we can't get home, Moor Cottage are scaremongering with words like 'Catastrophic', advised he needed to be on fluids and IV's but would need to be transported twice a day to and from Reading (without his IV's/Fluids) by the cats caregivers. Seems there was little to no hope for him right? Well, thanks to our caregiver ringing another vet for a second opinion, our boy is alive and kicking after 5 days in the same vets after we insisted on having him transferred from Moor Cottage's care. Now, back to my first statement, imaging our cattery hadn't got a second opinion? Imagine Moor Cottage vets used the words Catastrophic with little old Doris after she had used the vets for the last 30 years, you are supposed to trust your vet right? How many people have made decisions to let their pets go because they trusted their vets and didn't get a second opinion or believed things were worse then they were. The new vets invested in a way to Internet message us updates twice daily, provided videos and picture of him as he recovered, provided on going cost updates and were able to keep him in the same place and not cause additional stress by needing him to be transferred continuously. That is a Vet I can Trust and needless to say we are very happy with the new vets and he is back to his usual mischievous self. For the extra kicker, not once did the new vet use words like Catastrophic, they were disgusted that a vets could be so negative when the situation was treatable and his care came in at a fraction of what Moor Cottage had quoted per day. Moral of this story, get the second opinion.
Read on Google →Excellent, caring team and perfect for cats! My appointment was quick, efficient, and stress-free. The vet and receptionist were both friendly and warm, and it really shows how much they care about the animals (and their humans!). I especially love that they have a cat-only clinic, so you don’t have to wait around with dogs or other animals that might stress your cat out. It makes such a difference. Highly recommend for anyone with a nervous or sensitive cat.

I would like to give a special shout out to Katie (Catherine) who has seen our 2 kittens a few times now and has been wonderful with them. During operations and medications it's really reassuring to know you are leaving your fur babies with someone so loving! Thank you :)
