My dog had been treated my the sutterton branch and whilst they were very good, the same cannot be said about my experienxe at Heckington. I took my dog to Heckington as it is closer to where i live. I needed a replacement cone and he was recovering from having surgery for removal of a mass. The person he saw noticed his poor was swollen and wanted to check his wound which i understood and she wanted to remove the bandage. My dog was seen by Jo and at one point my dog was half in reception half in consulting room and when Jo was looking at the bandage she asked for another colleagues help and they were openly talking in my presence about wha lt they should do and remarks were also made that his paw shouls have been bandaged, when Jo removed the bandage she was talking to her colleague about what they should do namely do we bandage again or leave it. They decided to rebandage and i was asked to hold my dog and at this point he was shaking and trembling and i could not comfort him, and his paw was bandaged and it was so padded be could not get in the car. Jo put her hands on the floor before bandaging my dog and she never washed her hands. I also said his paw will get wet and she nonchantly said just put a poo bag on his foot which i did and this kept falling off and i was not comfortable touching his leg to put the poo bag on. I found Jo very condescending and patronising and she kept telling me he was only supposed to have 5 mins walk 2 to 3 time per day and i knew this but she kept repeating herself. I said he does go upstairs and Jo said he should not be going upstairs and i said i cannot stop him and Jo said have you not got a gate and i said no. Jo also kept repeating the fact it would help if you have a collar to keep his cone on and i said i had one but would beed to find it and she kept saying the same thing. She made me feel like i was being told off like a naughty school girl. It did not end there when i was in reception Jo asked if elton was on a medication beginning with p cant recall name and i said i did not know and she became quite forceful and said is it purple liquid and i said no..she then checked his records and said it was ok with his medication. As we left she also said i dont know what sutterton will do with that paw but its major. I was alarmed and shocked at the treatment by Jo and due to her behaviour she made me question whether Sutterton had bandaged my dogs leg correctly and whether they had given him the correct medication. I also do not know why she let me leave a dog with a paw which in her words was major. I will never use Heckington branch again and i am pursuing a complaint with the practice. Avoid Heckington . My dog was also very distressed and subdued following his visit and treatment by Jo and he was himself until Jo saw him and it went downhill fron there.

Heckington Vets has consistently provided me and my dogs with an exceptional professional service. I have found every member of the team to be knowledgable, helpful, compassionate and warm. They genuinely take an interest in my dogs and always allow for discussion about their care. I have been to many vets in my years of dog ownership and can confidently say that Heckington are the best in terms of both professional care and compassion. It is clear that they all genuinely love the animals their care for. The photo is of my girl Nena who Heckington Vets cared for with a heart condition. The end of life care provided to Nena was above and beyond my expectations and she passed with dignity knowing she was safe and loved. Staff could not have done any more. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and continue to take my dogs to this practice.

We have just had an excellent experience with my Romanian rescue dog at Heckington vets. After a previous negative experience from both myself and my dog we were nervous about his upcoming appointment, however Rose made the entire appointment stress free, she was extremely calm, caring, and reassuring to my dog. Rose explained everything step-by-step to us and is clearly very knowledgeable - I couldn’t recommend her enough. Overall we had a successful appointment and Rose was brilliant!
