I’m writing this review to raise awareness. I am best placed to review Greyfriars as I was going there with my dogs on and off over a 20 plus year period. Most reviews are from people’s first day experience. Greyfriars used to be one of the best hydrotherapy centres around. It was all about the dog’s welfare until it was sold a few years ago. Now it’s all about maximising profit. My dog had spinal surgery. I was taking my dog to Greyfriars twice a week for treadmill work. After many sessions we weren’t seeing much improvement so I asked if swimming in the pool may benefit my dog. The owner said it’s far too risky for my dog to swim in the pool but she couldn’t tell me exactly what the risk was. I wasn’t convinced so I asked the specialist surgeon that worked on my dog and he explained that there was no risk and he asked me to get Greyfriars to contact him to discuss which they didn’t. The price of the treadmill was £120 compared to £35 for the swimming pool. I took my dog to another hydrotherapy centre where he has been swimming in their pool happily for around 2 years after we stopped using Greyfriars. I understand that Greyfriars is a business but deceiving customers isn’t a good look at all. AVOID!!!
Read on Google →The amazing team at Greyfriars gave our dog a far better final year than we ever thought possible. Thanks to their expert care and personalised treatment, he stayed active, comfortable, and happy for much longer than expected. He had hind-leg weakness and, over the course of a year, swam once or twice a week. The care he received was exceptional—kind, skilled, and genuinely life-enhancing. Suzanna did a very thorough assessment early on and worked closely with our vet to get him on the right medication. That made a huge difference, and I was especially grateful for her support in his final days. Kate was a brilliant help with his physiotherapy - she was inventive at introducing exercises into his routine so they were fun and easy to carry out, and had thoughtful advice about how best to manage his walks and daily activity. All the hydrotherapy team were amazing; he often swam with Kirsten, Becca, and Leanne, whose kindness and encouragement made a big difference to him. He had had a bad experience at another local centre and wasn’t keen at first, but their kindness and patience completely changed that. He came to love his sessions, even if he firmly refused the underwater treadmill! Their ability to adapt things to what worked best for him made all the difference. Tanya made booking easy and stress-free, always friendly and efficient. The whole team drew on their extensive experience helping other dogs to give him the best possible care. As he grew older, the support I received from the team at Greyfriars made a huge difference to both him and me. Their practical advice, positivity, and compassion were a constant source of strength. Thank you, Greyfriars!
Read on Google →I visited recently for a work experience day. All the staff were extremely friendly and polite. All visitors received a warm welcome and their pets couldn't wait for their hydrotherpy session. Onsite the also have a veterinary physiotherapist and laser treatment so the patients can receive their care all on the same site
Read on Google →Wonderful staff and facilities, they really get to know the dogs and owners and are incredibly respectful of all needs (and quirks!). Just superb all round!
Read on Google →I cannot recommend Greyfriars highly enough! The whole team is exceptional, they are kind, highly trained and go above and beyond to offer the best experience. You can tell that they care deeply about the work they do and are all animal lovers. My 10.5yr old, nervous rescue dog has regular physio and hydrotherapy appointments. From the start they took the time and care to build trust with him and make him feel comfortable (a special shoutout to Kate who was amazing with him and made both of us feel seen and at ease). Due to his arthritis he struggled with muscle wastage, reduced mobility and some pain. Since he has been having treatment at Greyfriars, his strength and mobility has increased, his muscles are getting stronger and his quality of life has greatly improved. He is having less falls and accidents and is less reactive and more playful with other dogs. He now has so much energy, dashes around like a puppy on his walks and is much happier in himself. He has improved to the extent that he no longer needs his librela injections; before he was having these every month! He is honestly a different dog! The care that the team have provided has honestly been life changing for both of us and I am so grateful that I have access to such an amazing service. A huge thank you to everyone at Greyfriars from Kezra and Rupert.
