  Called at lunchtime today as our beloved hamster had a nail that was long, bent upwards & had turned black overnight. Was told to bring him in whenever I could today so went after work with him. Hadn’t used them before but as we purchased him from Pets At Home thought of the branch of Vets 4 Pets immediately. Great customer service & the vet we saw (unfortunately didn’t get her name) was so lovely & very reassuring to our son who was so worried about his pet. Our son also asked for advice on keeping him (hamster) cool in this heat & explained what we are currently doing which was confirmed we are doing all the right things. Such a lovely, positive experience from start to finish. We, our son & Dave the Hamster are extremely grateful for the prompt help and support.

  I cant recommend the team here enough. Our two boys have been so looked after over the years. Now 11 and 10. All of the staff are amazing. A special shout out to Maria, Iyanna for the care with appointments snd the surgery. Kelly and all of the nurses, Vicky, Dan and team on reception. Also to everyone else. The care and dedication into every appointment has been second to none. Our boys have needed dental work, and life saving procedures over the years especially in the last 7 months when we thought we may lose our Blue. , and this amazing team has been fantastic. Thank you all so much. He's still here because of you! A massive THANK YOU For looking after our Saluki boys Blue and Oreo, the advice and the love. Not just for the pets you see but also helping people feel a part of a special, listened to and valued at every appointment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  It’s difficult to explain just how disappointing our experience with this practice has been unless you’ve been through it yourself. We were registered with Vets4Pets Stratton from 2020 until recently and have now moved to another veterinary practice. Whilst I appreciate that many people may have had positive experiences here, unfortunately ours were consistently negative. Our dog is a pug and, like many dogs, becomes extremely anxious when visiting the vet. Rather than feeling supported by the practice, we often felt the opposite. On more than one occasion, interactions left both us and our dog more stressed than when we arrived. The general attitude we encountered was one of the biggest issues. We have stood at reception waiting to collect routine items such as flea treatment and been completely ignored. Not told someone would be with us shortly, not acknowledged, simply left standing there wondering whether anyone was going to help. We also found some of the comments made regarding brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds deeply uncomfortable. During one consultation, we were told that these breeds “shouldn’t exist”. Whilst we understand the welfare concerns surrounding poor breeding practices and the health problems that can affect some flat-faced dogs, we felt judged for owning our pug rather than supported as owners trying to provide him with the best possible care. There is a significant difference between discussing breed-related health risks and making owners feel criticised for the dog they love. Another particularly frustrating experience involved our dog’s kennel cough vaccination. Because of his anxiety, the practice was unable to administer the vaccine. Instead, we were sent home with the dose and asked to attempt it ourselves. When that proved unsuccessful, we were required to pay for another dose and were again advised to administer it at home. We were left feeling as though responsibility for the problem had simply been passed back to us. Another visit involved my wife attending with both our dog and our young daughter. After a lengthy wait, despite having an appointment, she was left trying to manage an increasingly distressed dog and an upset one-year-old child. Rather than feeling supported, she came away feeling embarrassed and judged. The overall result was that visiting the practice became something we actively dreaded. On the rare occasions our dog needed veterinary care, we genuinely found ourselves considering using an out-of-hours veterinary service simply to avoid dealing with the stress of attending this practice. I appreciate that not everyone will have had the same experience, and this review reflects only our own. However, after several years as clients, we ultimately decided to move elsewhere, and we wish we had done so sooner. So, whilst I appreciate that not everyone will have the same experience, here I am giving you ours. Do with this information what you will.

  I used these vets for 3 years, with my last dog. They are all friendly and polite. However, they have recently changed their policy and are more about money than the pets and won't see you if you can't pay upfront. The last time I visited, I saw a new vet, and she was pushing me to give my dog an operation for his laxating patellars. He is 3 years old and I would rather put off, giving him an operation, until absolutely necessary. I don't want him to have an anaesthetic if possibly avoided. Plus, he would need 5 weeks to rest and recover. He is a very active and energetic dog who loves his walks. If we stay home, for one day, he goes crazy the next day, charging about everywhere, when we go out. I went elsewhere for a second opinion. She asked to see him walking about and watched him closely. She said that he seemed to be managing quite well himself and didn't see the need to put him through the operation now, unless that's what I wanted. If I felt it impacted his daily life, or he was in pain, then I would say yes to the operation. He sometimes walks sideways and stretches his back legs a lot. But he's not in any pain and he runs about and plays as he should.
