I am extremely disappointed with the treatment my Pomeranian received during what should have been a simple serology blood test. Without my knowledge or consent, they completely shaved a large patch of her fur down to the skin. As many owners know, Pomeranians are a breed highly documented as being at risk of developing alopecia when shaved too closely. This is not a minor cosmetic issue, it can cause long-term coat damage. At no point was I informed this would be done, nor was I asked for consent. To make matters worse, she was visibly bruised during the procedure. I will be attaching photos showing the area where the blood was taken and where the bruising occurred. When I raised a complaint, I was dismissed and told that shaving was “the golden rule” for drawing blood, implying that consent was unnecessary. That is simply not true. It may be their preference because it is easier, but that does not remove the obligation to inform an owner and obtain consent, especially when dealing with a breed known to have coat sensitivity issues. I paid just over £300 for this appointment, only to later learn that the clinic itself charged £86 for processing the blood results. The lack of transparency, care, and accountability is shocking. I have never had issues with them before, which makes this even more disappointing. However, based on this experience, I cannot recommend them. If you love your pet, please ensure you ask very specific questions before consenting to any procedure here. Shameful and completely avoidable experience.
Read on Google →Sadly I had to take my little cat Lola to be put to sleep yesterday I had spoken with the nurse Charlotte the day before she gave me lots of good advice and was sensitive. The vet Vascile (not a good spelling) was also very kind and understanding. Thanks for being there at a difficult time. Gillian
Read on Google →They deserve zero stars! They failed to examine our dog properly, failed to notice he had a medical emergency called GDV, despite him being in clear agony. This led to him dying in needless extreme pain! We will never forgive them for this. Our dog couldn't even stand by the time when we got him in to get examined. The vet still refused to take it seriously and wouldn't assist with lifting the dog off the floor to get into the examination room, despite requests for help, he just watched and said nothing. He then prescribed a stupid probiotic thinking our dog had gas, and did not bother to do an X Ray despite requests for this. As a result of this lack of care, our poor dog was dead within a few hours. Vets4pets then tried to lie when we complained and said they had mentioned GDV as a possibility (they hadn't). They said they offered a X Ray for GDV the following day! Once again this shows they failed to recognise an emergency as an X Ray the next day would be useless, GDV is fatal within around 3 hours unless emergency treatment is provided to relieve the gas build up, such treatment would only be to buy time so emergency surgery can be performed. If they suspected GDV then why the delay? Of course it was because they failed to identify the possibility of this condition. Further evidence of this is the lack of the emergency intervention being given had they actually suspected this condition! They didn't even book in an X Ray for the following day. We had asked for an X Ray whilst our dog was already there and they refused and said they would do so IF he was still in pain the next day. They have taken no responsibility and their apology was hollow, as the vet effectively said he considered this condition and briefly mentioned it (he didn't) and yet for some reason only chose to treat our dog for gas (makes no sense but the management apparently believes this nonsense). The management then apparently expects us to believe this stupid story, we know exactly what happened! Their vet misdiagnosed and failed to treat our dog appropriately as a result. They then tried to pass the blame onto us by lying and saying their vet had told us of this possibility, talk about rubbing salt in the wound! We had asked for an emergency scan repeatedly, he didn't want to do it because he was over confident that our dog had gas. He was so convinced of this that he had told us to take our dog for a walk when he couldn't even stand, in order to help him pass gas! Our dog died in absolute agony thanks to this heartless place. They only care about money and prescribed a useless probiotic, they didn't care to examine our dog properly whilst he was alive and could potentially have been saved with proper care. Avoid! Do not believe the excuses of this practice. UPDATE: I have seen the response from this practice, NO, our dog was NOT stable! He was unable to stand, was severely bloated and screaming in pain! We said we would take the dog to another vet AFTER this practice said they could ONLY offer a painkiller in ONE HOUR if our dog hadn't improved! That wouldn't have saved him which is why we didn't want to go back to them, they were still not taking it seriously! They were sticking with their stupid diagnosis of "gas". The other vets we contacted recommended Newbury Park provide emergency treatment, which they were not offering. The owner once again glosses past this glaring issue of misdiagnosis! We ran out of time to save our dog due to their delays, misdiagnosis, arrogance, lack of urgency and care. We were still desperately calling other vets to get urgent care, as his body failed and he passed away in front of us. We WILL be taking this matter further. If this practice had been competant and followed the CORRECT treatment pathway, none of this would have happened! The continuing lack of accountability is disgusting, as is your attempt at deflecting blame to us! As to being supposed "pet lovers", we witnessed what that entailed when your vet failed to assist in getting our collapsing and distressed dog into your examination room!
