We attended Tweed House Vets with our 15-year-old dog after booking an emergency appointment because he was very unwell, lethargic, and not himself shortly after receiving Cytopoint and oral antifungal medication from the practice. Given his age, we believe there should have been a proper discussion about risks, age-related tolerance, and potential side effects before administering these medications. No side effects were explained to us at the time. When we returned urgently, concerned about a possible reaction, the consultation with vet Merik was dismissive and lacking in empathy. We were told that we were the first people to ever report side effects from this medication, which is an extraordinary and unrealistic statement given that all medications carry risk. We were also told that side effects were something we “should have asked about”, rather than something the vet should explain. That is not an acceptable standard of informed consent. Following a formal complaint, we were offered financial compensation. However, money does not undo the distress caused, nor does it compensate for watching an elderly dog deteriorate. It took approximately six weeks for Harry to return to anything like his normal self. The practice later acknowledged that the consultation “could have been handled better” but maintained that their communication was acceptable and that no fault lay with the practice. The overall experience left us feeling dismissed and unsupported at a time when we were simply trying to advocate for an elderly dog. We have since transferred his care to another practice.

Absolutely fabulous care. I have used Tweed House for 16 years with my little girl and every time I have been, they are always professional, friendly and I am always reassured. Took my girl today and the vet was brilliant with her and me to be honest. Thank you so much. 100% recommended for your pets.

A Heartfelt Tribute to Tweed House Vets. As a pet owner, the bond we share with our animal companions is profound and immeasurable. When faced with the heartache of a terminal illness diagnosis for our beloved cat, Jackson, the world seemed to stand still. It is in this moment of vulnerability and sorrow that the true character of Tweed House Vets shone through, making the task of writing this review both emotionally challenging and deeply necessary. From the outset, the staff demonstrated an extraordinary level of empathy and professionalism. The diagnosis of Jackson's tumor was every pet lover's worst nightmare, yet the vets and support team enveloped us in a blanket of support and understanding. They went above and beyond to ensure that Jackson's final days were not overshadowed by any pain or discomfort. Their commitment to compassionate care was evident in every interaction. The vets took the time to explain our options, always prioritising Jackson's quality of life. They were patient with our countless questions and never rushed us through decisions. Their expertise in palliative care was matched only by their genuine concern for Jackson's well-being and our emotional state. Thanks to the exceptional care provided, coupled with Jackson's indomitable spirit and our love, we were granted the gift of an additional year with our furry friend. That year was filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories that we will hold in our hearts forever. This extra time was a testament to the dedication and skill of the veterinary team, who treated Jackson not just as a patient, but as a beloved family member. It is with the utmost sincerity that I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone at Tweed House Vets. Your unwavering support and the tender, loving care you provided to Jackson have left an indelible mark in our hearts. You did not just care for our cat; you helped us navigate one of the most difficult periods in our lives with grace and dignity. To any pet owner who values the health and happiness of their animal companions as deeply as we do, I can wholeheartedly recommend them. They are not just skilled veterinary professionals; they are guardians of the human-animal bond, champions for the well-being of our pets, and a source of comfort in times of need. Thank you,  for everything. Your compassion, expertise, and kindness. From the bottom of our hearts, we are forever grateful.

What an amazing vets. I moved 10 miles away, but I cannot bring myself to change vets. I’ll do the journey every time. I trust all the staff. My dogs live the vets. They come and automatically sit on the scales and sometimes they even get treats. The service and health plan is highly recommended!!!

The vets was immaculate and you were greeted by a lovely fresh smell when entering. Alison on reception couldn't have been more helpful and clearly explained the pet plan we were taking out. She was very knowledgeable and put our minds at rest with our first fur baby. They were all brilliant and made sure our puppy was healthy. You didn't feel rushed and the customer service was outstanding. Would definitely recommend.
