During the recent heat wave I had to take my cat, Hanson, to the Fulford Road branch as he was unable to regulate his body temperature. I called the emergency line and the girl on the emergency line was cool and calm, told me to come in and checked my ETA so she could make the vet aware. Tom the vet was brilliant, he looked after Hanson so well, even called me back twice after I called again worried and he alleviated my anxieties; and the staff on the payment desk for having a normal conversation with me and making the whole situation feel normal/relaxed, all whilst showering Hanson with compliments - I am so thankful to you all!
Read on Google →I am incredibly disappointed by my recent experience with this practice. To be clear, this review does not refer to anything regarding the medical care provided to my cat. My issue lies with the practice's conduct following her passing. Yesterday (nearly four weeks later) I received a phone call demanding a consultation fee that they had failed to charge me at the time. The tone of the call was appalling and accusatory; I felt as though I was being reprimanded for a payment error that was entirely their own administrative mistake. In reality, I had paid the full £156 presented to me at the desk and even stood outside the practice (in full view of the reception team) for a further 10 minutes awaiting transport. When I emailed to clarify the additional charge (with a scan of the receipt), the practice claimed I had left 'in urgency' to go to the emergency vets before the fee could be added. This is a complete misrepresentation of the day's events. I took my cat home and her condition worsened over a few hours, at which point I sought emergency care. Their refusal to acknowledge such a clear internal error and the following misrepresentation of events is disappointing, as it seems the practice have prioritised deflecting blame over supporting a customer. If they had contacted me and just apologised for their oversight I would have been far less upset. Whilst I have made the payment, I have lost all confidence in this practice and will absolutely not be using them in the future. Tower Vets: I do not want a generic response to this review claiming that you 'take feedback seriously'. I consider this matter closed and do not wish for further contact.
Read on Google →I've been with these vets for over 30 years. The vets take time to listen to you. Get to know your pets and have time for a little fuss to put them at ease. The appointment was spot on time on the day although I had wait a couple of weeks to get a check up. I'm sure they would get you in quicker if needed!
Read on Google →They are always caring and helpful. They were very good to me when having to say goodbye to my old dog toff. They vet was fantastic with my pups first visit. All staff very approachable and emphatic.
Read on Google →I highly recommend avoiding this vet. I have had a couple of instances where the recommended tests did not seem necessary and were rather expensive. During a recent visit, it was suggested that my cat get a white blood cell test, when I pointed out that this didn't make sense because the vet had said he thought it was a virus (a condition where a blood test will not affect treatment), he said "Well, it might have shown us something". This is not the only instance where the suggestion made did not seem to align with the diagnosis suggested. But what has led me to never return, is that my cat was supposed to get a subcutaneous injection of fluid, to help with the illness she was experiencing. When I got her home and took her out of her carrier, she was covered in blood and fluid, her carrier had blood all inside it and my floor was soon covered. I immediately rung the surgery and after they put me on hold, they told me to come in. I brought her in and they took her back. Five minutes later they brought her out and said "she's fine, it was just a small leak". They had dried her off and put her back in her carrier. On my drive home the vet called and left a patronising message about how a "small amount of blood and fluid can leak out and he's very sorry her didn't tell me". The whole interaction was completely unacceptable. It's clear they messed up the procedure, as all the fluid that was injected came out, mixed with blood (this also means they hit a blood vessel). To clarify I have photos of the blood all over her carrier, the pad inside, and my floor in three rooms of my house. As she was soaked in blood and fluid. The gaslighting and attempts to convince me it wasn't incompetence is ridiculous. They put a sick animal through unnecessary stress and trauma and did not have the decency to take any accountability. I will never allow them near another pet.
