  Needed to see vet this morning, thankfully was able to get appointment in Birkdale. Staff are great in Birkdale, so caring. Was seen quickly, and now feel better my dog has been seen! Well done staff, it’s so nice to get friendly knowledgeable professionals. Would not go anywhere else !

  Poor practice and I would avoid if possible. Why not give a dog antibiotics when an infection is diagnosed? Prescribed special food instead at a huge cost. Found it cheaper on Amazon. Always try to charge you more, especially if you don't say you pay the monthly scheme, when you do, it's suddenly, 'oh right, we'll provide the VIP treatment' and that charge disappears. Surely all pets deserve the VIP treatment. They charge enough! If you need to see a vet, avoid Aurora. Never met such a nasty person who is cold and rough with the animal and talks to you as if she's ordering children around. Arrogant. Knows nothing about dealing with pets and has zero interpersonal skills.

  I had a very distressing experience with this practice, involving both poor medical decision-making and unacceptable financial handling around my rescue dog. On the financial and administrative side, I had to request my insurance forms four separate times before they were sent. Once the insurance refund was received by the practice, they refused to forward the money to me despite the fact that all bills had been paid in full at the time of receipt and I did not owe them any money. When I repeatedly emailed asking for the refund to be released, the practice then began making deductions from the refund without any explanation or itemised breakdown. Only after I explicitly pointed out that withholding or making unexplained deductions from a refund is contrary to RCVS guidance on fee transparency did they return the full amount. Clients should not have to chase repeatedly or quote professional regulations to receive money they are entitled to. They had also previously added extra costs onto bills without clearly stating it at the time, seemingly being a pattern with this vet. Medically, my dog has significant behavioural difficulties, and I repeatedly requested mood-stabilising medication. I was told this would only be prescribed after a behaviourist assessed him while unmedicated. I complied with this requirement, yet the medication was still refused. I was eventually forced to write an email stating I would leave the practice in order to access appropriate treatment, which I found deeply upsetting. Since starting mood-stabilising medication, my dog’s behaviour has improved dramatically, confirming this intervention was appropriate. My dog also has a known intolerance to NSAIDs, yet I was advised to keep him on them regardless. While on the NSAID he was vomiting daily and refusing food. When I stopped the medication myself, he improved immediately. Concerns about BOAS (breathing difficulties of the dog) and ongoing gastrointestinal issues were repeatedly ignored. When my behaviorist highlighted the dogs BOAS syndrome which the vet practice hadn't put forward in multiple examinations I pushed for BOAS assessment and surgery. I rang the insurance and they were quite happy to do the boas surgery, they just needed the vet to ring them and arrange it. The practice refused to contact my insurance provider, despite the insurer confirming they were happy to cover it and only required the vet to make contact. This refusal unnecessarily delayed investigation and care and meant I had to change vets in order to access this care for the dog. There was also clear discomfort around my choice of independent behaviourist. I was repeatedly questioned about why I had not used the practice’s recommended behaviourist, whose fees were quoted at £1,000–£1,500 for an initial consultation, compared with my behaviourist who initially worked for free and then charged £300 for the first month. My behaviourist actively attempted to collaborate with the practice through calls and written communication, but this appeared unwelcome. Overall, my dog’s behavioural needs, BOAS symptoms, and gastrointestinal issues were not appropriately addressed, treatment was delayed, and I felt dismissed and pressured as an owner. I would not recommend this practice.

  Just back from taking our pup for her annual vaccs, saw Ian (last few times it has been Pav). Everything is always explained, obvious love for the animals. Everyone is friendly from when you walk in. Another pup was sick whilst waiting, not a problem, dealt with quickly and kindly - just what you need when you're a worried owner. Thank you all.

  We have King Charles which we adopted 2yrs ago because his owner died. We've never had a dog so it we needed a lot of advice and help. The Vets and Staff at Parker and Crowther were a tremendous help to us and we can't thank them enough. We took Flash when he was five he's seven now. He went yesterday, they always attend to him extremely well and we always feel reassured. He was very overweight when we adopted him they helped us with all advice and he looks like a different dog now. We love him so much, Our beautiful King Charles (Flash) attended Parker and Crowther vets in Birkdale yesterday for his injection and annual check. They were extremely good to him and treated him in a very professional manner.
