Personally the staff felt rude and seemed disappointed that my dog "wasnt well enough" for OOH emergency care. And wasnt considerate about low income families despite us taking her in as per our best interests. Our dog appeared worse than when we took her in and we collected her first thing in the morning. We took her to another vets in the morning where we felt much more comfortable and less judged and provided prime care for our pet.

I have got to say, a massive thank you to Gertie and the lovely ladies in the reception. These guys are just so nice and looked after Milo so well. Gertie- Thank you! So no matter where you are in the Yorkshire Dales make the call and yes do travel here. I called all the vets in the area and I was so welcomed on the phone and then with Gertie. Thank you all

I took a wood pigeon nestling here last night that I had found in Knaresborough. The baby bird looked as if he had been attacked. I chose here because, unlike a vet local to me who told me over the phone that I could bring him but they don't tend to treat these animals so he'd most likely be put down- without actually seeing him...), Skeldale vets allowed me to bring him and they'd see what they could do. Firstly, the man on the phone was so friendly. The vet who took him into the room was, too. They obviously truly care about animals - regardless of type. They even took my phone number so they could ring me to update me on how the bird was doing. Of course, I appreciate that putting him to sleep might be the best option for him but I appreciated the fact that the vet was going to look him over before making that decision. They took the bird for free, too. I really appreciated their kindness and professionalism. I would 100% trust them with any pet of mine.

Used Medivet Thirsk as my own out of hours would not see my guinea pig who we had decided to put to sleep after not recovering from surgery. Everyone who I had contact with was lovely. The vet we saw was very empathatic and caring and let us have time to say goodbye to Dave with no rush. The service and care was fantastic, escpecially when already in a stressful situation. Thankyou .

I can’t thank Gertie enough for the care she gave my rat, Maggie. She was one of the kindest and most compassionate professionals I’ve ever met. We had been dealing with a long and difficult health issue, and when it became clear that euthanasia was the kindest option, Gertie handled everything with such gentleness and respect. She explained things clearly, never rushed me, and made an incredibly painful decision feel supported and dignified. I was able to hold Maggie while she passed, and that meant the world to me. Gertie treated her not “just as a rat,” but as a deeply loved member of my family. I will always be grateful for the empathy, honesty and care she showed us during such a hard moment. Thankyou so much.
