Our family had a deeply upsetting experience with this practice. Our dog was diagnosed with a lung tumour, but it later became apparent that she had a collapsing trachea. While I accept that her prognosis was poor regardless, my main concern is the standard of care she received in her final weeks and, most importantly, during her final hours. Despite collecting medication regularly, no one ever asked how she was progressing. On the day she died, her breathing became severely laboured. Although we contacted the practice to explain that her condition had deteriorated dramatically, no emergency appointment or immediate advice was offered, despite her already having an appointment later that afternoon. In desperation, a different veterinary practice, who had never treated her before, told us to bring her straight in. Tragically, she died in my son-in-law’s arms on the way, despite his attempts at CPR. When we phoned to cancel her appointment, we were asked if she had “recovered”. I understand that our dog was nearing the end of her life, and I am not criticising the fact that she died. What I cannot accept is the apparent lack of urgency, compassion and emergency care when she was in obvious respiratory distress. Prompt intervention, even if it had resulted in euthanasia, could have prevented the distress and trauma that she and our family experienced. I have already raised these concerns directly with the practice. I share this review simply to encourage others to ask what emergency care and support they can expect should their pet suddenly deteriorate.

Wonderful service and lovely people. Rebecca was fantastic with our Sid every time we brought him in right until the very end of his life.
