Read on Google →I am writing this review based purely on my own awful and deeply upsetting experiences with this practice. After two years of encountering what has felt like deliberately difficult treatment, today was yet another highly unpleasant situation. The issues began when my elderly dog’s multiple teeth extractions went wrong. While I fully understand that surgery carries risks, the complete lack of common sense in failing to prescribe post-operative antibiotics after removing nine teeth was careless. I watched my dog rapidly deteriorate. For three consecutive days, I begged for antibiotics to treat an obvious infection, only to be repeatedly told no. It was bizarre and heartbreaking, my beautiful dog was dying in front of my eyes. Eventually, a wonderful vet named Hannah (who has since left the practice) stepped in, recognized the severity of the situation, and immediately prescribed antibiotics and steroids. Fortunately, my dog survived. She is now 16.5 years old and relies on a regular low dose of Metacam for daily comfort. The practice’s handling of this medication has been an administrative nightmare. Initially, I would drive down, ask for a small bottle, and purchase it. Out of the blue on one visit, I was told this was no longer allowed and I had to phone a day in advance. When I asked to place that order right then, since I was already standing in the clinic, I was told to go home and come back the next day. Absurdly, ten minutes after arriving home, I received a text saying it was ready. Following their exact rules, I phoned ahead to order the medication. Today, I drove to collect it, only to be refused the medication entirely. I was told I could not have it unless I booked and paid for a health check first. I entirely understand that regular health checks are necessary for prescription medication. Had I been informed beforehand, I would have happily booked one. I would have appreciated the basic courtesy of a text or phone call before I made the journey, or at the very least, the compassion to offer a 24-hour emergency dose so my dog wouldn’t have to abruptly miss her vital daily medication. Instead, I was turned away empty-handed, with zero regard for her welfare. Distressed, I immediately drove to another local practice that had previously treated my elderly cat with immense compassion and professionalism. Though embarrassed to have to explain the situation, the contrast in care was staggering. Within an hour, they had booked my dog in for a health check and supplied her medication. I have owned and deeply loved animals all my life, using veterinary practices across both the UK mainland and Northern Ireland. Sadly, this practice falls short by miles. Due to a complete lack of communication, consistency, and basic empathy, I would never recommend them.
