VetPartners is the York-headquartered group that owns 433 UK practices in our index, nearly all of them still trading under the name they had before acquisition. It is the third-largest corporate group in the country and probably the least recognised: unless you look at the small print on an invoice, you would rarely know.
Of those 433 practices, 262 publish a consultation fee, 256 publish a dog booster price and 216 publish a dog castration price after our August 2026 re-scrape — better coverage than it looks, though still short of CVS. This guide sets out what those prices show.

Who VetPartners is
VetPartners was founded in 2015 and grew quickly through acquisition across the UK, France, Italy and Spain. BC Partners, a private-equity house, took majority ownership in 2018. The group covers small-animal, equine and farm practice as well as referral centres and its own buying group.
Its model deliberately leaves the acquired practice looking and feeling unchanged — same name, same clinical leadership, considerable local autonomy. That autonomy shows in the numbers: VetPartners has one of the widest internal price ranges of any group we track. VetPartners consultation prices
The median consultation is £58.50 across 262 practices — £3.50 above the independent median, £6.50 below CVS, and just under Medivet. The published range is £35 to £76, so the group sits comfortably in the middle of the market at the point of entry.
That mid-market consultation is the group's strongest suit. Where VetPartners becomes expensive is surgery.
VetPartners vaccination costs
- Annual dog booster: median £66 (n=256) — £18 cheaper than CVS and £15.50 cheaper than IVC Evidensia.
- Annual cat booster: median £70 (n=251).
- Puppy primary course: generally £75–£110 depending on the practice.
Vaccination is where VetPartners looks genuinely competitive against the other corporates — only independents (£61) are cheaper on our data.
VetPartners microchipping
A median £30 chip puts VetPartners near the top of the market: dearer than independents (£25) and CVS (£22), cheaper only than IVC Evidensia (£40) and level with Pets at Home. The tight clustering around £29.99–£30 across practices suggests a group-level recommendation rather than local pricing.
VetPartners neutering costs
Neutering is the weak spot:
- Cat castration: £105 median vs £96 for independents.
- Cat spay: £150 vs £135 for independents — £15 more.
- Dog castration (medium dog): £270.96 vs £242.20 for independents and £233 at Medivet — second most expensive group after IVC Evidensia.
- Dog spay (medium dog): £365 vs £325 for independents.
The internal spread is remarkable: dog castration runs from £90 to £490 across VetPartners practices — a 5.4× gap inside a single company, the widest of any corporate group in our index. VetPartners health plans
In our index 192 VetPartners practices publish a health plan (44% of the group). As with IVC, there is no single national scheme — plans carry each practice's own name. Typical 2026 pricing runs £15–£25 a month for a dog and £11–£18 for a cat, covering boosters, parasite control, health checks and a discount on other services.

Consultation fees barely move outside London — £55 to £62 across most of the country. Surgery is a different matter: an average dog spay costs £326 in Dorset and £430 in Cheshire. That £100-plus difference dwarfs anything you'd save on consultations, which is why it always pays to get a written quote for a planned procedure rather than assuming your usual practice is representative.
