Great vet who seen my border collie but the front of house on reception makes me feel like I’m the biggest inconvenience everytime I ring. Even a huff down the phone. I will continue to give the practise a chance but this person alone is making me consider looking elsewhere.

There's a oddly unwelcoming atmosphere here, each time I spoke with front of house it seemed lacking any warmth, as did the decor. Whilst making enquiries, I felt burdensome or like an inconvenience. On one occasion the two front of house staff were whispering to each other tensely and the general vibe was a bit cold and sterile. In contrast, two of the vets I observed seemed friendly and inviting. I found the appointment system and the handling of my requests quite inflexible, with a "take it or leave it" attitude. I have hidden disabilities and this approach definitely felt exclusionary; some would find this a barrier. I wouldn't willfully choose this vets again based on a lack of warmth and basic customer service skills. I infrequently use vets, but when I do, I have found others much more welcoming and inviting.

I definitely chose the wrong vet. Noticed on the Sunday my guinea pig was doing something weird with her mouth and was struggling to eat. Took her to this vets on the Monday who were excellent at seeing me straight away, I can’t fault them for that. However, the vet couldn’t examine her properly, said she was strong and difficult, so couldn’t get a proper look down her throat. Gave me some antibiotics and some pain killers (usually for cats) for £68. As the days went by she was ok in herself and was trying to eat but not much so I started to syringe feed. I emailed on the Wednesday saying I think an X-ray should have been done not prescribing me antibiotics and pain killers that wouldnt treat a dental or abscess problem. What I got back was that it was a preventive measure in case there was any underlying infection but yet they didn’t really know the root cause! I emailed on the Thursday about costs so I could organise lending the money from family for an X-ray and surgery, but I got no reply. It’s now Monday and my guinea pig passed away overnight. I was hoping she was going to make it until this morning to get her back to different vets but unfortunately she’s given up. I think this could have been avoided had this vet made more of any effort to find out the root cause through an X-ray in the first instance. I wish I’d gone somewhere else now this could have been prevented.

I never thought anyone could make putting our beautiful boy to sleep any easier but St Clair staff really did make a difference. Our boy Ozzy “Oz” was the perfect gentleman and adored by everyone and we were devastated when he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. The compassion shown by the Vet (Andy) and Nurses was above and beyond, as if it was their own dog. Oz was seen immediately, prescribed what he was needed within the hour and in the best hands from the first point of contact with them. Nothing takes away the pain of such a loss, however, the kind words, the gentle compassion and the sheer endeavour shown by the staff goes a long long way when you know that no stone is left unturned when you have to make that heart wrenching decision. These people deserve a medal. We as a family will be forever grateful for not only their service, but the compassion and whole hearted commitment into doing whatever it took to ease our boys suffering. Thank You 🙏 ❤️

We have used St Clair for years with all our family pets. They are super friendly, great with the dogs and very cost effective. We wouldn't go anywhere else.
