We had been with this group for approx. 25 years mainly using the Wennington Road premises. Due to the loss of one of the senior vets and with the constantly increasing prices and the corporate feel taking over the practice we decided to move to another vet in Southport about 4 months ago. We had two dogs with our older girl having been diagnosed with bladder cancer just over 12 months ago. Sadly something else went wrong for her overnight on Saturday 7th Feb and when we got up on the Sunday morning she was in a real mess in her bedroom and obvious pain. Our daughter rang Rufford and explained the position and they said to bring her in, they were on callout that day. We were just about to leave when the telephone rang and our daughter answered to be told that they realised we had changed vets a few months back and therefore would not see her. We were absolutely disgusted that after all the years we had been customers and in the situation we were in they would deny her being seen. If this is not a case of being in it for the money then I don't know what is. We were informed by others that they had a legal obligation as an on call vet that day to see her but have not pushed this. They will respond to this feedback to state that they deal with negative feedback via private emails. Just to confirm we will not be entering into any further dialogue with anyone from Rufford but just wanted to 'put it out there' so people are aware of how disgusting they can be in someone's hour of need. Please be warned, we believe that moving vets was the best thing we could have done, this vets has changed over the last few years hut certainly not for the better.

Needed an appointment quickly as my cat George became ill quite quickly, was given an appointment that morning and within 5 minutes called me back to say there was a cancellation and did I want to come in sooner. Always friendly girls on the desk and Owen was great as he knew George's history with his bladder problems and kept him in to do blood tests and put on a drip , had a phone call about 3 hours later to tell me what they found and what they were doing and got to pick him up that evening. I have always found when I needed an emergency appointment with them that they always get him seen as so as possible.

Wouldn’t ever go anywhere else. Dawn the behaviourist gave me advice that has changed a lot for my poodle Binky. She was a nervous, anxious girl and she’s made so much progress in just a couple of months from following Dawns advice. Shes so much happier in herself and she’s enjoying life a lot more. Everyone also bent over backwards to accommodate her on her spay day and took every need of hers into account to make it as stress free as possible. Thank you to Dawn and everyone else at Rufford for always putting the animals first 🫶🏻

We took our temporarily kept injured pigeon named Geraldine to Rufford Vets. Despite not being on their client list, they took Geraldine in to heal. We thank you for your kindness and sure that Geraldine is also grateful. Would recommend.
