  We have been feeding a hedgehog for well over a year when we saw her come out in the afternoon dragging her left back leg. We took her to Mansfield vets4pets unsure of what they could do to help her. They said the leg was severely damaged and had to be amputated. They kept her for over a month while she recovered and then said we could take her home with antibiotics to fully recuperate. We have been taking her back every week to be checked over and more antibiotics given us as not fully healed. Today we have had the great news that she can now come home and go out in the garden, you wouldn't believe how quick Hetty moves when let loose. The staff there have been absolutely marvellous in looking after her and have made a fuss of her each time we visited As she's classed as wildlife all this has been of no charge to us but we have been treated as fee paying customers I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone They are all stars 🌟

  I recently got a cat and 3 weeks later I had her checked up, the vet said everything was perfectly fine other than (she likes her food) after weighing her and checking her heart beat. So I cut back on her food slightly only to come home 3 days later and she had given birth to 2 Kittens (She was only 1 herself so I was immensely shocked) as a vet I would expect them to realise how far along she was. I called vets for pets and they did refund me for my first check up and stated when I take the kittens in I would get their first worming and checkup for free. Due to her being so young she rejected the kittens after a couple of days so I had to bottle feed them. Kitten (A) had gone 3-4 days without going to the toilet and I was very scared. I called and called and they said to bring the kitten in for a check up over the weekend but the price would range from £300-£500, this was not an option. After calling up for a week day appointment I managed to get them seen. (They are now 3 weeks old) all they did was say - try (Kitten A) again and if he doesn’t empty his bowels within 24 hours bring him back in, and that (Kitten B) had a heart murmur and we are not sure if it would make it past 8 weeks old. I was told to wait a week for the worming treatment as they are too young and small for their first dose. I went to the front desk and was told I was not entitled to this (free) appointment due to not having any shots or worming treatment. I was charged £50 for them to (literally look at them and tell me one’s probably going to die) I moved vets asap and went with a local family run vets and they fixed everything. I was told (Kitten B) heart murmur is not terrible but once she hits 8 weeks and she is bigger they will see if any surgery is needed or if she can live with it and (Kitten A) was given an Enema and rectal stool softer and he was a brand new kitten. I’m sure vets for pets do have many good vets but are stuck within rules and regulations, but the service I received seemed like they did not care one ounce about my pets and only wanted their pay check at the end of the month. I will never recommend them. I was immensely stressed with what was thrown on me and all they wanted to do was drain my bank account.

  Sadly yesterday we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Collie Sally. The wonderful young lady vet ( sorry I didn't get your name) gave us so much time & reassurance that we were doing what was best for Sally something you really need at a time like that Sally was calm throughout & passed peacefully. Thankyou to the team for making such a sad time so much easier for us

  We rescued a cat 5 months ago knowing she was disabled and had ongoing health conditions. We sadly had to put her to sleep recently & I wanted to leave a review saying how excellent, kind and compassionate the vets are at this practice. They spoke to us many times on the phone, talking through options, trying lots of medications to keep our precious furry friend going as long as possible. When we knew she was in pain, they gently said it was time & were so incredibly kind. Gave us lots of time with her in the practice before & after she was asleep. They even sent us a lovely card & some forget me not seeds to plant in her memory. If I ever have a pet again I’ll be using this practice. Thank you to all of the staff for your kindness & compassion & for taking the best care of our Mischief 😻
