  Over several visits, I observed some processes that felt unusual for a local vet. One example was a hospital referral offered without a physical examination, which didn’t feel congruent with the situation being presented. My pet had a low level issue but expensive animal hospital off site was offered - I declined. I also experienced a long‑acting antibiotic that left my cat extremely subdued for almost a month. When I asked about this, the explanation didn’t fully match what I was seeing at home. Many cat owners as in loads had made this observation also I noticed online. Costs consistently felt very high, and almost every step seemed to come with an expensive add‑on or requirement. This may be normal for some practices, but it was noticeably different from what I expected. Relatively normal issue some tablets and a check over easily over £200. I’m not writing this to be negative — just to encourage people to ask questions, check costs, and make sure they fully understand what’s being recommended. As a caring member of the community, I think it’s important that pet owners feel confident and informed about the decisions being made for their animals. I think if you love your pet and I am sure most people do try and find a private practice and also ask about prices don't be afraid ask about costs because if you don't you will find yourself shocked in many instances.
