  Amazing Veterinary practice. Been using the team at Dulverton for 8 years now for all manner of issues relating to sheep, cattle and dogs. Our collie has just had emergency surgery and the service was outstanding. Thank you so much to everyone at Dulverton vets for their dedication and service to the community.

  I took my dog (puppy) into the surgery last night because I thought she may have swallowed a marble and I was worried about the possibility of an obstruction. The vet was really good she manipulated the dogs abdomen and took an X ray which showed nothing. It turned out she was ok. I was very happy with that. The Emergency evening charge was £180 the xray £50. So I paid my £230 and left poorer but reassured. So why the one star review. Well this morning I rang the surgery in the hope of getting the puppy her next vaccination and with a view to registering. The woman on the phone was curt, callous and frankly obnoxious. I am apparently "out of their area". The vet that saw me at 12:40 will have to be back at work at 9:PM and they (the practice) won't be able to do an emergency appointment again. She didn't add "and it's very inconvenient but she might as well have done. I did point out that said vet was nearly a quarter of a grand better off for her trouble , made no difference. "Why do I want to register" she asked. Well you're the nearest emergency facility and a couple of months back I had a dog diagnosed with gastro entiritis and it turned out to be a Pyometra , I couldn't get her to Bridgwater (too ill too far) and by the time I did get her to a vet It was too late and she died on the table. That makes no difference she said, you have white Lodge and John Gage in Minehead. Yes I replied White Lodge emergency is Bridgwater 26 miles away and John Gage is the vet that diagnosed Gastro enteritis. After a little more rubish from her along the previous lines I told her I could no longer give a damn and hung up. The vet was very good, the practice is garbage. I would recommend finding a practice that is interested in the animal as well as the money . I do not think I have met a more callous or unpleasant receptionist. Edited to allow a reply to response. Firstly I do not like being lied to, or about. You do not operate an emergency service out of the goodness of your heart. You operate an emergency service because you have no choice. The RCVS code of practice............. Paragraph 2.1 of the Code explicitly states: "Veterinary surgeons in practice must take steps to provide 24-hour emergency first aid and pain relief to animals according to their skills and the specific situation." Without complying you could not operate at all. Secondly I made no complaint about the vet "The vet was really good" I also made no complaint about White Lodge. I merely stated that the emergency facility is 26 miles away (you are 17). As regards John Gage. My previous dog died as a result of his negligence and is the subject of an RCVS enquiry (stage 2). I have also recently successfully sued him for negligence in the county court (Taunton). He did not contest the claim. I think your response has probably reinforced my earlier review. Whatever profit you are or are not making, it's you that sets the prices and conditions. Customers should not be held to account for bad management or bad choices,or high overheads These are matters for you. The customer pays your wages and is entitled to a little respect. In closing I think it is fair to say an honest opinion is not cyber bullying and I resent the accusation. No I wouldn't recommend you, customers should expect honesty and civility as a bare minimum.

  I have been using this vets for my dog and new kitten. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. My dog loves going and saying hello to all the ladies! My dog recently fractured her leg and she is having weekly bandage changes . Very reasonable prices.

  The day after Boxing Day my cocker poppy broke her leg we saw keria and she saw Poppy and is still treating her now , what a outstanding vet and so compassionate, Lucinda was on reception helping her and gave me such a warm welcome and also a amazing and warm with poppy , we have visited out of hours at midnight before this we’ve been treated amazingly well by all the staff vet’s nurses and receptionist Rachel , I just wanted to say a massive thank you from myself and my pack of spaniels
