Vets for pets Rustington diagnosed and cared for my dog at the end of his life nearly a year ago. I have just been back with my elderly cat and the level of care and compassion they show the animals is amazing. The caring attitude goes beyond the animals to the owners as well and I will always speak highly of them and recommend them to anyone.

I am writing this to warn other pet owners about the complete lack of clinical competence and clear profit-driven behavior at this practice. My 5-week-old puppy began showing symptoms of a clear, progressive health issue. I brought him in for an initial consultation, which I paid for, only to leave without a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Despite my request for basic treatment, I was told the vet could not diagnose him and had to wait for an external 'Optivet' clinic to reply to photos. I was assured they would be in touch 'soon.' Five days later, and after being completely ignored, I was still waiting. During this time, the vet actually had the audacity to call me and pressure me into booking and paying for a second follow-up consultation—not to provide treatment, but just so she could look at him again. I was forced to chase them daily, sending photos of the puppy visibly worsening, only to be repeatedly told, 'we are still awaiting a response from Optivet.' I suspected Juvenile Cellulitis (Puppy Strangles) from day one and told them so, but they refused to make a clinical decision. Fed up with the neglect, I took the puppy to a competent, independent practice today. They examined him immediately, confirmed the diagnosis of Juvenile Cellulitis, and started the necessary steroid and antibiotic treatment within minutes. This practice could be fine for routine tasks like vaccinations or expressing anal glands, but they are entirely incompetent when facing anything requiring actual veterinary judgment. They avoid making decisions, stall for time to extract more consultation fees, or try to push you toward expensive external referrals rather than performing their duty of care. Do not trust your pets’ health to this team if it involves anything more complex than a routine check-up. They clearly prioritise bureaucratic protocols and extra consultation fees over the health and survival of a suffering animal.

Our dog Roxy had a very large lump on leg ,we were at the time at another vets who diagnosed cancer they were quiet negative to the extend we were contemplating putting her to sleep .We decided to take her to vets for pets Rustington who were absolutely amazing .She had the surgery but unfortunately had complications which meant her wound needed specialist treatment daily .She was placed in the care of Carla one of the nurses who came in on her days off to see her and long story short she is fully recovered and now cancer free .All the staff were amazing but Carla went above and beyond to care for Roxy .
