  We saw Claire today with our poorly little boy Bertie. We were made to feel very welcome from walking through the door. We could not of asked for better service, she was caring and gentle and diagnosed the problem straight away listened to our concerns and referred Bertie straight away to a specialist centre. In total we saw 4 members of staff (reception, nurses and vet) and everyone of them were so kind and caring. We can’t thank you all enough.

  HARTLEPOOL PET OWNERS!! Unfortunately my female cat got caught by my male cat just after his neutering, I took my cat to an appointment as I noticed her belly getting larger and nipples, I took her to bridge veterinary care in Hartlepool, the man who checked her out said she wasn’t pregnant and could go ahead and be spayed as he couldn’t feel any kittens. I asked if he was sure and he checked again as if your cat is pregnant when getting them spayed it is a huge incision from the top to bottom of stomach as they need to remove what’s inside. If she wasn’t pregnant it would be a tiny incision on her side and a lot easier. I booked the appointment for my cat to be spayed but a week and a half later I noticed a significant change in my cat and her appearance. I called the vet and they assured me it was okay as she was checked out. I started to feel a little movement in her stomach so I ordered all the things needed if she were to have kittens as I know my cat and something wasn’t right. The next day she went into labour and I called the vets again stating I thought she was going into labour as she was shouting at me and walked into the spare room (quietest room of the house). The vets had told me it wasn’t long enough since they checked her stomach kittens so if she was in labour the kittens wouldn’t survive. I was distressed on the phone and said “what do I do then?!” The lady on the phone was extremely rude and just said “ you will have to just bury them or something”.!!! (This is absolutely ridiculous). I have no grass around me at all to bury them even if I was to as it’s all concrete! (I just think it’s an awful way of communicating when someone is needing help). I hung up on the woman as she was just making the situation worse and helped my cat deliver 4 HEALTHY and fully ready kittens! 😡😡 they are currently 5 weeks old and have had no issues whatsoever! Bare in mind that if I was to have went ahead and got my cat spayed she would of passed away as they couldn’t of been able to get everything out and not knowing she was pregnant in the first place. They would have just told me there was a complication or infection!!! 😡 thank god I knew my cat well enough to not go ahead and get her spayed! Nobody take your parts of the family to this vets!!! The man who “checked” out my cat no longer works there but it’s not the first issue I have had with them. My sweet girl had to wait for me to go to the shops and get more stuff for her as what I ordered wasn’t coming until the next day! PLEASE AVOID! 😢

  We visited Hartlepool vets today and experienced a brilliant visit. The reception staff we excellent, the nurse who attended Mia after her operation was so attentative to Mia. Then her treatment from the vet was first class. Whenever we visit this vets with either of our dogs we get an excellent service.

  Sydney well over weight 1-10-24 she was 27.7kg I was told by lynne she needs to loose weight and told me the food to get her witch I did it’s now 29-01-26 and she 18.3kg I carnt thank lynne and the others that see her though this Sydney doing brilliant more active now thank you so much for being here for me and Sydney

  Our 16-year-old dog Alfie was a long-term patient at this practice with multiple conditions including chronic kidney disease. He passed away on 1 January 2026, and while I accept he was elderly with complex health issues, I have some concerns about aspects of his care that I believe other pet owners should be aware of. Alfie was on a renal diet for six months and simultaneously prescribed Metacam, an NSAID with known kidney risks. When pre-surgical bloodwork in November 2025 showed his kidney values had risen to nearly 2.5 times normal, we were not informed of this deterioration. No follow-up monitoring was arranged, no treatment escalation was discussed, and no reassessment of the Metacam prescription occurred. When he became unwell in early December, we specifically suggested bloodwork. This was declined on the basis that bloods had been taken three weeks earlier;—the very bloods showing the concerning results. Four days later, he presented in catastrophic kidney failure. The intensive care he received during his December hospitalisation was attentive, and individual staff members were caring. However, there were inconsistencies in communication and approach about his medical history during this critical period. A word to other pet owners: If your animal has a chronic condition such as kidney disease, particularly if they are also on medications that can affect the kidneys or liver, please be proactive in requesting regular monitoring bloodwork and ask to be informed of any changes in results. Do not assume that no news means stable condition. We wish we had pushed harder on 12 December; it might have made a difference.
