Vaccinations: What Your Pet Really Needs

Vaccinations are one of the most important things you can do to protect your pet's health. But which ones are essential, and how much should you expect to pay?

    Essential Dog Vaccinations

The core vaccinations for dogs in the UK protect against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and leptospirosis. These typically cost between £30-60 for the primary course and £40-50 for annual boosters.

    Essential Cat Vaccinations

Cats should be vaccinated against feline parvovirus, cat flu (feline calicivirus and feline herpesvirus), and feline leukaemia virus. Primary courses usually cost £50-70 with boosters around £40-55.

    Optional Vaccinations

Depending on your pet's lifestyle, your vet may recommend additional vaccinations such as kennel cough for dogs who socialise with other dogs, or rabies for pets travelling abroad.
