She is one of a small number of vets in the UK with this specialised certification, offering a deep understanding of end-of-life decision-making. The practice follows up-to-date thinking in end-of-life care, employing both sedation and anaesthesia for a gentle transition. The team also includes registered veterinary nurse Sian Brown, with over 30 years of experience, and the practice is accredited by Compassion Understood, further highlighting their commitment to compassionate care. Established as a dedicated service in 2020, The House Vet has been providing at-home euthanasia since 2008 as part of a previous housecall practice. Dr. Eggleton is a graduate of the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA) and constantly works to improve the experience for families. The practice emphasises dignity and love during this emotional time, helping caregivers provide a peaceful farewell for their companions. Making the decision to put my 14 year old fur baby to sleep was the hardest decision I have ever made. Karen came to our home where me and my 3 sons were able to sit around our beloved dog Theo and reassure him, talk to him and smooth him so he knew we were with him for his journey over the rainbow bridge. Karen made the whole experience personable and helped us and reassured us through every step. We have a jar with his fur to keep and his paw print that we cherish, Karen even sent us a hand written condolence card with the most lovely words. I just want to say thank you for making this heart breaking decision we had to make, calming, caring and peaceful

Karen was professional, understanding and made an exceptionally difficult day, the best it could possibly be. She guided us through every moment and went at our own pace.We cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you for everything you did.

Thank you for your professional yet caring demeanour at such an incredibly difficult time for our family. Bailey was our world and you enabled us to give him the ending he deserved. From the bottom of our now broken hearts, thank you.

We had already talked through the process on the phone, so knew what to expect. Our gorgeous cocker spaniel caddy was very tired with poor joints and ailing health. He laid at our sides, we stroked and comforted him until his last breath. He passed away peacefully on his lovely warm blanket. We are in pieces but comforted by such a dignified death. Thankyou is not a strong enough word.

As soon as I was in contact with Karen she constantly reassured me and showed so much patience! On the day Karen and Sian were amazing, explaining everything as they went, knowing when to give us time to say goodbye and allowing us the time we needed. I couldn’t have wished for it to be any better for Murphy…….he was the best, deserved the best and you gave us the best, thank you ❤️
