Wallace was an anxious, large and sometimes difficult Boxer when away from his ‘people’ . However the nurses and vets in the practice were absolutely wonderful handling and calming him and he was looked after above and beyond any other practice.
Read on Google →Fantastic practice. Really caring vets and staff. Been going here for over 25 years with both cats and dogs. Recommend their monthly direct plan for vaccinations well worth it. Private practice who do their own surgeries and blood tests. I find their charges very reasonable. They also have a branch in Mount Florida which my daughter attends same vets and services.

Despite facing many challenges over the years, including epilepsy, glaucoma, and other health issues, we received nothing but kindness and exceptional care from everyone here. I can’t thank the entire staff enough for the compassion and support they’ve shown us throughout Nelly’s journey. Even in the small reception area, we always felt comforted by the warmth of the staff and the empathy of fellow pet owners. Every phone call was met with patience, understanding, and respect. From both me, Kacie and Nelly, thank you.

I rang them up on short notice and the receptionist was extremely lovely and accommodating, getting us a same day appointment. She was seen within a few hours and prescribed antibiotics which worked absolute wonders on her health and she's back to her usual great form! An excellent vet practice that genuinely seems to care about animals. Thank you so much for everything once again!
Read on Google →After being at The Avenues for 13 years with my two dogs, very little requirement for the vet until I noticed youngest dog wasn't eating as well as usual this year. I took him to the Avenues and suggested there was something wrong with his mouth. Knowing your dog and their little habits and characters I thought he might have issues with his teeth. With no internal mouth examination done, I went on a long and drawn out process of my dog being diagnosed with a heart defect and given medication that didn't agree with him at all. I kept calling and insisting something wasn't right and that he was in pain. Two week later after being told to persist with the heart medication I took him back and the vet was shocked at the state he was now in, skinny, lethargic and now breathing like he had run a marathon! Not what he was like when i first took him in! She took him off the medication right away and sent him home. I insisted on pain relief and she charged me £27 for a tiny bottle of Calpol! This was the first time he had been offered pain relief since I took him in a month before. Couple of days later I had a mad dash through the night the the emergency vet with blood gushing out his mouth. This vet listened when i said it was something wrong with his mouth and with three of us holding him down we managed to open his mouth long enough to see a massive tumour growing in his throat. The vet immediately prescribed strong pain relief and back the Avenues I went to have the tumour seen too. My wee dog was taken in and got a call while he was still under to say it was cancer and was so bad it would be wrong to bring him back round. Such a traumatic event, not to see my wee dog again, that I didn't trust the vet again with my other pets. I still can't believe that my dog wasn't examined properly despite my concerns, that the vet opted for weeks of expensive treatments first rather than checking his mouth, and all this time without offering pain relief. My wee dog suffered terribly in his last few weeks. Dogs get cancer, I get that. But in your pets hour of need you would at least expect that the vet would listen to you as the pet owner and at the very least offer over priced pain relief for a start!!
