I’ve been with this practice for over a decade, so I’m genuinely sad to be writing this. Over the last two years my confidence has steadily eroded. Around 18 months ago my 16 year old cat stopped walking. Initial discussions focused on possible kidney issues. I had to push for imaging, and an X ray ultimately showed spinal arthritis. Once diagnosed, treatment helped, but the experience left me uneasy. More recently, he required dental extractions. On a previous occasion the practice referred us elsewhere for dental X rays prior to surgery. However, in September 2025 they proceeded to remove his remaining two teeth without radiography. Following surgery, he continued drooling and showed signs of oral inflammation. At the follow up consultation, symptomatic treatment was initially suggested which I pushed back on knowing that was a short term fix only. After further discussion, viral testing was performed. The first test had to be repeated as the kit used was out of date. Full mouth dental radiographs were later carried out at another practice. These identified three retained root fragments from the extraction at Anne nelson, which required further surgery under general anaesthetic at 16 years old. That corrective procedure cost over 900 pounds. Despite insurance, I remain approximately 350 pounds out of pocket due to excesses and co payments. The matter was referred to the practice’s indemnity insurers, who denied liability on the basis that retained roots are a recognised complication, but ignoring the fact that I wasn't previously advised of this and to get an x-ray which would have avoided this 'complication'. What has been most disappointing for me has been the lack of acknowledgment or apology given the impact this had on an elderly cat who required a second lengthy general anaesthetic. I have since moved practices.

Very pleased with Maya treatment at this clinic. Compassionate staff, reasonable prices. I felt they did not want me to keep coming unnecessary therefore I chosen them to treat Maya rather than a chain veterinary.

They saved my cat Tina's life. I took my cat to another vet and they wanted to put her down. I just had this gut instinct not to let them so brought Tina to Anne Nelsons and they diagnosed her, treated her and saved her life. Thanks xxx

Great experience with Anne Nelson vets. We’ve been taking our Pug there for years. They’ve always been kind, helpful and kept him healthy. They’re able to see him quickly if there’s ever an emergency - and have referred him to specialists if needed too. Thank you!

Anne Nelson Vets gaslighted me after misinforming me about a drug that nearly ended my cat's life! My cat was with Anne Nelson Vets for almost 16 years, and we were happy with them for the most part. That all changed when they suggested a Solensia injection for his suspected arthritis. I was never informed about any side effects and was instead told that it worked “naturally” to block any pain signals. Four days later, my cat very nearly died because of Solensia. Through my own research, I discovered that serious side affects aren’t uncommon for Solensia and Librela (the dog version). After such an experience, I think that anyone would seriously consider moving vets. (Against my better judgement, I ultimately planned to stay with them though, as I didn’t make any headways in finding an alternative local vet). Anne Nelson Vets found out about us looking to move and then sent me a letter to state that they would be ceasing treatment because the “mutual trust” was gone. They gaslighted me after my cat almost died under their care! I bitterly regret giving them the benefit of the doubt and staying with them for so long. If not for their appalling letter, I wouldn’t be leaving a negative review for them. I’ve included a screenshot of their letter, as well as my response. By the way, they couldn’t even be bothered to reply to my response! I would have been satisfied to hear that they would be warning clients of possible Solensia and Librela side effects from now on, or even just an apology would have been ok ..….but nothing. Shows how much they valued the nearly 16 years of our custom!
