  I regret to say that our experiences with this vet practice have been deeply disappointing and, at times, harmful to our dog. In March, we brought our dog in for an X-ray due to hip dysplasia pain. The vet put him on continuous medication, which caused a stomach ulcer. When we returned with the ulcer, we asked if there was an alternative medication. Instead of investigating, they insisted we continue the same treatment, claiming they didn’t know if it was the cause. Only after stopping the medication did our dog recover, confirming our suspicions. This lack of expertise and unwillingness to consider alternatives eroded our trust, leading us to seek a second opinion elsewhere. More recently, after our dog started scratching his ears excessively, we returned to this practice (only because it was the closest). Knowing our dog is now nervous at vets, the vet still attempted to examine his ears without proper lighting, causing our dog to panic. She then tried again with a stronger light, further distressing him. Despite not properly diagnosing the issue, she prescribed steroids and told us to clean his ears at home. We were charged £130 for this inadequate consultation. After five days with no improvement, we took our dog to another vet, who found a grass seed in his ear, something that had worsened due to the repeated cleaning advised by this practice. It’s clear this practice prioritizes medication and upselling over thorough, compassionate care. We will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for their pet’s well-being.

  I have been going to Oakley vets for many years now. I was highly recommended by my Dad who owned three Beautiful cats! I find the receptionist team extremely helpful and friendly. Every Nurse or Vet that has looked after my Dogs have gone above and beyond! We were very concerned for our little dog Dolly when she was spayed! But the lovely staff sent us pictures of her, and reassuring messages throughout the day. This was just so lovely. So an excellent service all round. I can’t thank and praise you all enough.

  Went here for our cat, was not registered. Registered online, called for an appointment and got a same day. Reception team were lovely, vet was so helpful and will keep returning here. Would recommend

  Highly recommend Oakley Vets. At the time that pet owners dread, my much loved cat, Missy, had sudden symptoms, then a serious diagnosis and an estimated week left to live. I cannot thank the staff enough for their professionalism, expertise, efficiency, care and empathy, when assessing and treating Missy, and for the support they gave me, as the devastated owner. All the vets took the time to explain and answer questions about the diagnosis and options for treatment. They gave me the facts and gave me time to decide the best option for Missy. Her treatment was able to be managed at home, and enable her to sunbathe in the garden for her week, (she chose to make it 2 weeks), this was back in August. I knew the signs to be aware of, and when it would be time to take her back. In the meantime, gave support and reassurance over the phone, or went out of their way to see Missy asap, on occasions this went past closing time. It was clear when a final decision had to be made but again gave me time, and as much time needed to say goodbye. The additional support that the staff gave me was above expected. Everyone was very kind and caring to both of us. It was so appreciated. The direct contact with the insurers also took a huge amount of stress away from me. I just want to thank you so much for your expertise, time, and care. Missy was so very special and you totally understood.

  I've been taking our cat here for 2+ years and literally every member of staff is a delight, always. So much care and compassion from the reception through to the veterinary clinicians. Everyone's always organised, we're always sent reminders and they always go out of their way to meet you on the level, to chat to you and help. We feel very lucky to have this vet's so close by.
