After over a year with them, relations deteriorated due to different issues regarding my cat's meds. For example, they delayed providing me with a prescription, then I received a very abrupt demand for payment. I was also waiting for Dr Jordan, the vet to contact me about the meds, but he failed to do so. I then enquired about the complains procedure and Leah, one of the receptionists, seemed keen to assert herself over the other receptionist, Rachel, and escalate the matter. I believe I walked into their local politics, some kind of girly spat, between Leah and Rachel. The latter is no longer at the practice and has been replaced by a young man. I was then contacted by Kerry-ann, Client Care Manager, who appeared to be a receptionist at their Brook Green branch. Ignoring my concerns about the meds, she concentrated on Leah helping carry my cat to and from my car. I recently turned 80, have mobility issue, a shoulder injury and blue badge, enabling me to park on a double yellow line just a few yards from the branch, She said: '....it is clear that Leah and the wider team have been constantly helpful and accommodating in their support for you and Sasha. Leah has often helped you and Sasha in and out of the car. She continued: 'In order for us to continue working together effectively, we do ask that our staff are treated with courtesy and respect at all times.' I interpreted this as a yellow card. Elsewhere Kerry-ann said this type of assistance is extended to all. She declared: 'We always try to be as kind and helpful as possible to both clients and patients ....... we would assist anyone that needed our help.' To this end, it was never made clear why this service to me was significant. I tried to find out in what ways I had been disrespectful to 'the wider team' but never got a reply. Instead, I got a red card! Kerry-ann said: 'I Hereby give notice of withdrawal of services to you.' It sounded as though she was denying me access to the toilet rather than refusing to treat my pet. I had visions of Leah seething with resentment at having to help an old lady with her cat. Before her departure I was treated to the most embarrassing homophone mix up of all. Kerry-ann said: 'I have taken all of your feedback ON BORED (sic) (my emphasis). This was no tiny typo but whether a school girl howler or Freudian slip, it is clear she had become 'bored' with the issue. After being sent off, I received three reminders for my cat's annual vaccinations. It seemed Kerry-ann was even incapable of having these stopped. I then wrote to Linnaeus and was contacted by Customer Services, Head of Area for London, Jade. To my astonishment she said she was sorry I 'have chosen' to take my cat elsewhere! She also promised to stop any further automated reminders but I have had two more since. After a prompt, she replied completely changing her tune saying that the red card decision was taken by the Client Care Manager as well as a new player, the Clinical Director, a Dr Chris, also at Brook Green, '......based on mutual respect...'. Surely he must have spotted the school girl howler! I then decided to write to one of the directors and picked the first from a list at Companies House. I was contacted by Customer Care Manager, Kathryn, who merely reiterated the above. Obviously I was never going to get anyone to come clean with the precise reason for the red card. Clearly a Clinical director would not become involved in banning a client because I had help carrying my cat and failed to doff my cap at 'the wider team'. I therefore consider I have the right to believe his involvement to be vet based, related to Dr Jordan's refusal to contact me about my cat's meds. I will retain this view until the real reason is revealed if indeed it exists. Ignore their crocodile smiles. There is something rather unsavoury lurking beneath the surface at the Village Vet. But today has really stood out, in what was a stressful situation with our dog in discomfort, Sierra and the team took their time assessing him, running tests and recommending the best course of treatment. Jordan has an exceptional depth of knowledge and communicates everything clearly and compassionately. He always takes the time to explain our options, answer our questions, and ensure we fully understand our dogs’ care. What really stands out is how thorough he is. He always follows everything through, pays close attention to every detail, and never makes us feel rushed. We have complete confidence in him and feel very fortunate to have him looking after Coco and Duke. We can’t recommend Jordan highly enough.
