# Medivet Prices UK 2026: Real Costs From 354 Branches

By The Vet Price Comparison Site editorial team, using published pricing scraped from 354 Medivet branches · Last reviewed 9 August 2026

![Medivet Prices UK 2026: Real Costs From 354 Branches](/assets/medivet-prices-BnI9n5ZW.webp)

Medivet is one of the six large veterinary groups the [Competition and Markets Authority](https://www.gov.uk/cma-cases/veterinary-services-for-household-pets-market-investigation) is scrutinising, and one of the most-searched vet brands in the UK. It doesn't publish a single national price list — each branch sets its own fees within a shared framework — so if you want to know what a Medivet consultation, vaccination or neutering actually costs in 2026, you have to gather that data yourself.

That's what our index does. We track published prices for **354 Medivet branches** (327 with a scraped consultation fee at the time of writing) alongside every other UK vet in our database. This guide summarises what that data shows: typical Medivet prices in 2026, how they vary by region, and how the brand's price list compares to independents and Pets at Home/Vets4Pets.

Typical Medivet prices in 2026 (median across our sample)

- • **Standard consultation:** £59.00 (range £39–£130, n=327)
- • **Annual booster — dog:** £69.00 (n=325)
- • **Annual booster — cat:** £71.00 (n=327)
- • **Kennel cough vaccination:** around £30 as a standalone add-on; usually bundled with the annual booster
- • **Cat castration:** £96.00 (n=326)
- • **Cat spay:** £133.00 (n=326)
- • **Dog castration (medium dog):** £233.00 (n=324)
- • **Dog spay (medium dog):** £317.00 (n=325)
- • **Microchip:** not published at scale — only one branch in our index lists a standalone chip fee, so we don't quote a Medivet median

## Who Medivet is

Medivet was founded in 1987 and now operates around **500 practices** across the UK, ranging from local first-opinion clinics to 24-hour hospitals. It's owned by CVC Capital Partners, one of Europe's largest private equity firms, following a 2021 acquisition. That puts Medivet alongside CVS, IVC Evidensia, Linnaeus, VetPartners and Pets at Home in the group of consolidated corporate vet chains the CMA is investigating for price transparency and consumer choice.

Unlike Vets4Pets — where each practice is a Joint Venture Partnership — Medivet branches are directly operated. Head office sets a common brand, systems and Healthcare Plan; branch teams still have meaningful discretion on the fees for one-off services, which is why prices vary from town to town.

## Medivet consultation prices

Across the 327 Medivet branches with a scraped consultation fee, the **median standard consultation is £59**. That's £4 above the UK independent median in our index (£55) and £4 above Pets at Home/Vets4Pets (£55), but well below IVC Evidensia (£66) and CVS (£65).

The spread is what matters most: the cheapest Medivet consultation in our data is **£39**, the most expensive £130. That's a 3× gap between branches of the same brand. Out-of-hours and hospital consultations sit above the day-time figure — usually £80–£150 — and are billed separately from the treatment itself.

## Medivet vaccination costs

The annual booster is the price most owners see first, and it's where the "Medivet price list" question is asked most often. Our data:

- **Annual dog booster:** median £69 (n=325). Cheaper than CVS (£84) and IVC Evidensia (£81.50), a few pounds above Pets at Home (£66.25) and independents (£61).
- **Annual cat booster:** median £71 (n=327).
- **Puppy primary course** (two injections + health checks): typically £75–£110 across branches, with Medivet's own guidance usually £85–£95.
- **Kennel cough:** most often bundled with the annual booster; as a standalone add-on budget £25–£40.

## Medivet microchipping prices

Microchipping is the one routine service Medivet branches almost never publish: just **one branch** in our index of 354 lists a standalone chip fee (£15.50), which is far too thin to quote as a Medivet price. In practice most branches include the chip inside a puppy/kitten package or their Healthcare Plan. For reference, the wider market medians are £25 at independents, £22 at CVS, £30 at Pets at Home and £40 at IVC Evidensia. Microchipping is a legal requirement for dogs and, since June 2024, cats in England, so it's worth asking for the price explicitly rather than assuming it's included.

## Medivet neutering costs

Neutering prices at Medivet come in _below_ every other major group in our data, and below independents in most categories:

- **Cat castration:** Medivet £96 vs Pets at Home £100 vs independents £96 vs IVC Evidensia £126.
- **Cat spay:** Medivet £133 vs Pets at Home £140.50 vs independents £135 vs IVC Evidensia £177.
- **Dog castration (medium dog):** Medivet £233 vs Pets at Home £250 vs independents £242.20 vs IVC Evidensia £352.
- **Dog spay (medium dog):** Medivet £317 vs Pets at Home £330 vs independents £325 vs IVC Evidensia £470.

Medivet is now the cheapest of the big corporate groups for planned surgery — on a medium-dog spay it undercuts IVC Evidensia by £153. Large-breed dog spays cost more — typically £400–£550 across Medivet branches — because they take longer under anaesthetic. Charity-funded options via [Cats Protection](https://www.cats.org.uk/help-and-advice/neutering), RSPCA and PDSA can reduce cat neutering further if you qualify.

## Medivet Healthcare Plan cost

The [Medivet Healthcare Plan](https://www.medivet.co.uk/pet-health-plans/) is the brand's monthly preventive-care subscription. In our data **258 of 354 Medivet branches (73%) publish a plan**; typical 2026 pricing is:

- **Dog plan:** £18–£28/month, depending on branch and weight band.
- **Cat plan:** £14–£20/month.
- **Rabbit plan:** £10–£15/month.

What's included is broadly consistent: annual booster, kennel cough (dogs), year-round flea and worm treatment, one or two six-monthly health checks, and typically a 10% discount on other services and food. It is not insurance — it doesn't cover illness, injury or diagnostics.

Is the Medivet Healthcare Plan worth it? Quick break-even

Adult dog on a mid-tier £22/month plan = **£264/year**. Buying the same items à la carte at Medivet's median prices: annual booster £69 + kennel cough ~£30 + 12 months flea & worm (~£140 from your vet) + two health checks (~£30) ≈ **£269**. Roughly break-even, with the 10% discount and convenience as the tie-breaker. If you already buy flea & worm cheaper online, the plan usually loses money.

We cover the wider question in our [UK vet care plans guide](/blog/are-vet-care-plans-worth-it-uk).

## Medivet price list vs the other big groups

The pattern in our August 2026 data is clear: Medivet costs a few pounds more than Pets at Home/Vets4Pets or an independent to walk through the door, but it is the cheapest major group for surgery — cat spay, cat castration, dog castration and dog spay all come in below every other chain. The one gap is microchipping, which Medivet branches simply don't publish.

Two clear takeaways:

- **London is the most expensive region** for Medivet on every routine service. A London consultation averages £67.73, ~35% more than Lincolnshire (£50.08); a medium-dog spay averages £387 in London vs £265 in Lincolnshire — a £122 gap for the same procedure at the same brand.
- **The East Midlands and North West are consistently the cheapest** Medivet regions. If you live within reach of two or three branches, comparing them is worth £15–£30 per visit and £50–£100 per neutering.

## How to check your local Medivet's price

Medivet doesn't publish a single online price list, but each branch's page on medivet.co.uk shows the most common fees. To compare that against nearby Medivet branches, other chains and independents, use our comparison tool. Direct links for the towns with the most Medivet branches:

## Questions to ask before switching to (or from) Medivet

1. What's the standard consultation fee, and is there a separate out-of-hours or hospital rate?
2. What's included in the Healthcare Plan, and what's specifically excluded?
3. What are your published prices for annual boosters, neutering (for my pet's weight) and dental scale & polish?
4. Is prescription-only medication charged in-house, or can I request a written prescription to fill online? What's the prescription fee?
5. Who provides out-of-hours cover — this branch, a Medivet 24-hour hospital, or a third party such as Vets Now?

Points 4 and 5 are worth asking anywhere; both were highlighted by the CMA as areas where owners routinely overpay. See our [prescription fees guide](/blog/vet-prescription-fees-uk) for context.

## The CMA investigation — what it means for Medivet

Medivet is one of the six large groups named in the [CMA's veterinary services market investigation](https://www.gov.uk/cma-cases/veterinary-services-for-household-pets-market-investigation). The investigation's focus is on price transparency, prescription fee disclosure, referral-pathway disclosure and ownership visibility — issues that apply across the sector rather than Medivet alone. The provisional remedies (published late 2025) push all six groups towards clearer online pricing; Medivet's individual branch pages already show more than most, which is why we're able to index them at scale. ## Frequently asked questions

### How much is a Medivet consultation in 2026?

Across 327 branches in our index, the median Medivet consultation is £59, with a range of £39 to £130 depending on the branch. London and the South East sit above average; the East Midlands and North West sit below.

### How much is a Medivet vaccination?

An annual dog booster at Medivet has a median price of £69 in our data; cat boosters sit at £71. Puppy and kitten primary courses (two injections plus health checks) typically fall between £75 and £110.

### Is Medivet cheaper than Vets4Pets?

Vets4Pets is part of the Pets at Home group. Medivet consultations are around £4 dearer at the median (£59 vs £55) and dog boosters about £3 dearer, but Medivet is cheaper for surgery — roughly £17 less on a medium-dog castration and £13 less on a dog spay. Local variation is wider than the brand gap, so always check the specific branches near you.

### How much does the Medivet Healthcare Plan cost?

Typically £18–£28/month for dogs and £14–£20/month for cats, depending on the branch and weight band. It covers annual boosters, flea and worm treatment, health checks and a 10% discount on other services. It is not insurance.

No. Each branch publishes its own prices on its practice page at medivet.co.uk. Our index consolidates 354 of those price lists so you can compare branches and chains in one place.

### Where can I see the Medivet price list for my area?

[Search your postcode](/) on our homepage — every Medivet branch in range appears with its published consultation, vaccination and neutering prices alongside the alternatives.

**Methodology:** figures in this article are calculated from published prices for 354 Medivet branches (327 with a scraped consultation price) indexed on [vetpricecomparisonsite.co.uk](/), benchmarked against 453 Pets at Home/Vets4Pets branches and the UK independent practices in the same index. Highest and lowest values are trimmed before each median. Data pulled 9 August 2026.
